Publisher's Summary

The first three interconnected stand-alone fairy tale retellings from the Four Kingdoms series

Book 1 - The Princess Companion: A Retelling of The Princess and the Pea: This retelling of the classic fairy tale The Princess and the Pea reimagines the risks and rewards that come when one royal family goes searching for a true princess.

Book 2 - The Princess Fugitive: A Reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood: In this reimagining of the classic fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, the girl in the red hood has been swallowed up by the wolf and must decide if she's willing to fight for her freedom, no matter the cost.

Novella 2.5 - Happily Ever Afters: A Reimagining of Snow White and Rose Red: Sarah and Evelyn have already risked everything to help Ava win a crown. But they soon learn that a coronation is a beginning, not an ending. Not everyone in Rangmere is happy to see the young queen on the throne, and intrigue and danger lurk all around.

The cousins find themselves fighting not only for their new kingdom but also for their own survival in the royal court. When a new threat emerges, the two girls must defeat it to both save the crown and secure their own happily-ever-afters.

great first audible selection

the first book was great I hung on every word. the 2nd book took me a little longer since the character was from the first book and she wanst my favorite (you'll understand if you read this).
but it hooked me. the reader did an amazing job with changing her voice for each character.

I'm off to buy the 2nd set haha

happy reading

Good retelling of classics

The stories were interesting and I liked how they tied together. The last book seemed a little rushed when compared to the first two but it wasn’t terrible. My only critique would be the narrator. She doesn’t have enough voice variation between characters and it is often hard to keep up with who is talking.

Truly wonderful fairytale retellings

I absolutely love the series and as soon as I'm done with this message will be moving on to the next set of books. The love between friends and companions is incredible. It made me feel like I was falling in love all over again. The books just flow right into each other progressing the story deeper and deeper. Truly well done.

Loved it!

All the fun of romance and mystery and I loved that it was a sort of re-telling of some classic stories. It didn’t make it too predictable too. I loved that it was clean, I would totally let a pre-teen read these. No smut! I will definitely be looking up more Melanie Cellier books now! I loved the first book and the third. The middle book was good too but not my favorite I had a hard time liking the main character. Still, all in all, a great read!

Doesn’t show up in my library, iPhone app

The stories were fun, I enjoyed them, however I can’t find them in my stuff on my iPhone app to remove them after listening. Any chance you have a remedy for this?

Nicely done!

Great for teen girls!
First book - couldn’t put it down.
Second Book - good, but a little less believable.
Third Book - great closure.

All sweet love stories. I really enjoyed the first two books for the way they focused on the feelings and relationships with all the people. The author inserted montages where necessary. For example: spending 4 months with a caravan would have taken up over 300 pages, but she described daily life in detail 100 pages then fast forwarded a week or two to something else interesting, then fast forward again another week to something else interesting…etc. Gave it an “abridged Tolkien” feel, so we could stay engaged.

Great for teen girls!

Wowzers

These books hold a special place in my heart because they were the ones that got me back into reading regularly. I have always love fairy tales and Melanie’s outside the box creativity with the stories just drew me in. With that being said, I was extremely nervous about listening to them and whether it would meet the high expectations I would have for it. Well, Esther blew me out of the water. What a fantastic set of books.

Great boxset, though not entirely my thing

This series isn’t entirely for me, and I have a hard time putting my finger on why.
I did finish this boxset. I think it’s well written and I’m so grateful it doesn’t have the typical young adult tropes, and I really appreciate there wasn’t that much drama either.
I liked the characters, the story and the romance, but I noticed my engagement waning the longer the stories went on, especially book 1 seemed to drag.
Maybe for me, it missed some depth, grit and/or humor?

I liked that the antagonist in the first story is the protagonist in the second (out of the box!)
I enjoyed the short story the most (book 2.5). Then book 2 and then book 1, though I adored the two princesses from book 1.
I liked there is an overarching story/ connection, but each of the books can stand-alone as well, and give you a satisfying completed story.
The narration was wonderful, and I always enjoy and appreciate that so much.

I loved these books!!

I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a set of books as much as I enjoyed these. They were well written and narrated. It’s always nice to hear a new perspective on an old story.
