Publisher's summary

Werewolves have fleas. Cyclops need glasses. Dark Elves give villain monologues.

Maybe the magical paranormal world isn’t quite what we expect?

This special boxset contains the complete urban fantasy series, The Magical Beings' Rehabilitation Center: Vampires Drink Tomato Juice, Goblins Wear Suits, and The Lost Files of the MBRC.

Book 1: Vampires Drink Tomato Juice
Morgan might be losing her sanity. She thought it was a normal day but after witnessing an incident involving a werewolf, a substitute teacher/possible vampire, and a thermos of tomato juice, things get weird.

A quick train ride later she finds herself at the Chicago headquarters of all things fantastical: the Magical Beings' Rehabilitation Center.

At the MBRC Morgan encounters dragons, vampires, elves, centaurs and even the Pooka, a shape-shifter who is too handsome for his own good.

The MBRC strives to rehabilitate and integrate magical beings into human society. It’s also supposed to be a secret, and Morgan’s accidental initiation breaks every rule the place has.

Book 2: Goblins Wear Suits
Morgan has settled into a balance between her school work and teaching at the MBRC. But she doesn’t know what she wants after this.

Her family and friends, including a certain flirtatious Pooka, all have colleges and future career paths for her to consider. Her choices are made even more difficult when terrorist threats are issued by an anti-human, magic-based organization.

And their main target is Morgan.

Book 3: The Lost Files of the MBRC
When Morgan decided to stay employed at the Magical Beings’ Rehabilitation Center, she thought her life would quiet down as she started college and developed her career.

She thought wrong.

The Lost Files of the MBRC is an anthology of five short stories set in the world of the Magical Beings' Rehabilitation Center series.

Hilarious

Definitely hilarious banter but my impression has been that if a teenager encyclopedia and slice of life, not really a story with head and toe… I’ve ended up skipping several chapter after mid book 2 because of that Anyway, great performance

A little disappointing

This series is lightweight and fun, but has a bit too much of a high school, teen, which-guy-will-she-end-up-with flavor to fit my taste. I was hoping for more of a Magiford feel, so found myself disappointed.

Not to say it wasn’t enjoyable, the series was funny and I wasn’t at risk of putting it down unfinished. But beyond being too ‘modern teen’, the storyline tended to meander a bit without clear goal or purpose. This made it less engaging as a whole, and more of a casual read than something gripping to capture my attention.

Content:
There were maybe 3 or 4 light swear words throughout the series. The romance was very clean, and there was no real violence to speak of.
As for religious content, the vampire said he believes in the second coming of Jesus Christ, but only as a casual comment. The MC mentions her parents forcing her to go to church a couple of times, but she is not a believer. Despite those few references, the series doesn’t really speak for or against faith or God.

Fun, relaxing listen!

Overall, this was a fun audiobook! I liked the second novel more than the first, simply because the storyline had more substance and plot.

But despite that, the world of magical beings Kitty has created us such fun! I loved the short stories that showed Morgan, Devon, and the rest after the events of the novels!

And Natalie Duke kills it again with her narration!

Great, clean fun.

What a great story! I was hesitant at first because of the MC’s age. Being in my forties, I can’t really relate to 16 year olds anymore. If it had been any other narrator it might have been a problem. She did a wonderful job of portraying someone young without sounding like a total twit. My favorite thing about this story was that I was able to listen to it with my middle school daughter. No sexy times. It is surprising how hard it is to find a paranormal/fantasy book that isn’t full of detailed sex.

thoroughly enjoyable

I really enjoyed watching the characters grow from high schoolers through college. Reading them go through their challenges in relationships was fun.

Fun and Unexpected

So much fun! This is a story I could listen to over and over (and I probably will). I enjoy the witty banter and the unorthodox characterizations of magical beings. The main character is younger than much of Shea’s other work, so the whole story has a innocence about it that makes it a light, happy read. Definitely recommend!

so much fun!

I love the twists the author gave to fairy tale creatures. This story is about a girl in high school who learns that fairy tale creatures are real and nothing like the storybooks. She goes to a place that teaches them to blend into human society. I laughed throughout and appreciated the clean romance and lack of homosexual activity that is prevalent in fantasy books today. K.M. Shea has become one of my favorite authors.

Excellent audio version of a favorite book set!!

I already loved these books by K M Shea, and have read many times over. But the audiobook was even better and renewed my love for this book set. I thoroughly enjoyed the Reader who did an amazing job at the voice inflections.
