Publisher's summary

In exchange for pizza, a beautiful crow delivered stories to my windowsill. I've collected those stories, here, for your amusement and observation.

"Bedfellows" follows the story of a boy and a girl who are attached at the hip by supernatural means. "Belligamy" tells the tale of a powerful curse forcing married men to fight one another in order to protect their brides. "Captured by Animals" details an author’s adventures spying on people in the woods to write his romance stories. "The Red Constellation" is Law and Order: SVU meets cosmic horror. "Young Adult Series Simulator" tells the story of that date you went on at the bookstore. "F1" is about a pregnant horse. "Nine-Tenths an Ape" is "The Monkey's Paw" but in reverse. "Lethe" asks: How old were you when you had your first memory? Maybe a little too old? "The Bright Idea Room" reminds you that it's the environment that kills you in the end. Not the serial killer. "Satan's Spies" is about a friendly group of businessmen and their obsession with strip clubs.

Worth every slice!

I was provided this book at no cost to myself for the purpose of reviewing it. That being said I Had a fantastic time listening to what may be my new favorite collection of short stories. Reminiscent of creepshow and other collections of suspense, horror, and science fiction. This takes a unique path the framework of finding out just what this mysterious crow will bring next. the narrator takes you through a varying collection of stories some wholly unique to me some a twist on a known subject all of them captivating. I truly would recommend this to anyone who enjoys light horror or science fiction.

Mysterious and Well Done Oddities

This audiobook is distinctly unique and has a quality of oddness. A young man finds that if he feeds a crow certain food, he will receive gifts. Rings, shiny objects, and then when he feeds the crow pizza, the crow brings pages of an unknown author’s writing.

The author, Evan B. Witmer pulls together unique stories, each one mesmerizing with each passing second. My favorite was Bedfellows followed by Captured by Animals. In Bedfellows, a young couple finds themselves connected supernaturally. When they try to break the supernatural connection they share, it does not end well. The short story “Captured by Animals” is about a writer who spies on others to enable him to write his stories, but the writer is completely unexpected.

The listener must trust Witmer. There is just enough of the story to capture your attention and get you to stick with the stories. Witmer does a good job of building each character, world, storyline, and crafts unexpected twists. The stories give just enough of a foundation to keep your attention. This requires the Listener to take the stories at face value and follow the author’s lead. In other words, prepare your imagination because you will want it.

The narrator, Mark Watson does an excellent job of narration. His performance is fluid and moves forward smoothly. He clearly articulates and is consistent. He has unique voices for each character that gives more depth.

There were no issues with the production or quality of this audiobook, it was well done.

Aaptly named weird $h**. I love it.

First please understand these are short stories. Refreshingly unique stories.
If you are expecting to hear things you've bread before guess again. These stories are "Odd" for sure but more than that they are fun to listen too.
I was never bored nor did I have difficulty trying to follow the stories.
Their were several laugh out loud areas and eye rolls. Honestly it would be a neat tv series or YouTube series.
You can't go wrong giving this a try. I look forward to book 2.

Intense and unique storytelling!

I was fortunate enough to be sent a link to this book and able to give it a listen thanks to the author and I'm glad I got to give the book a chance.

From beginning to end this author introduces short stories that are surreal, but altogether cynically realistic as we delve into the worlds of incredibly human characters, no matter what the situation - especially situations with half horse/half unicorns, a particular story highlight of this book for me where we see those well formed, cynical characters this book provides.

I really appreciate the unique tales and bizarre situations these characters are led into, leading to tales I've never even thought of, this author's imagination ran wild in this collection and it sure is one crazy ride from story to story within this book, with people fighting over their spouses and trying to keep away from their also cursed ex's, this book is funny and dark in some of the most incredible ways.

A very odd but interesting collection, it is everything it sets out to be and more.

who's the what now?

Alright yo so I was ready for weird because I am weird, but I think this shit is even to weird for me and that's really hard to do. I knew I was in for a ride just from the synopsis and title but no one could have prepared me for the absolute load of nonsense that was ahead of me. Comprising of a bunch of short stories (30 minutes to an hour each), each one surprisingly stranger then the next this book will have you shaking your head, asking what, rewinding to hear parts again to figure out what was just said, and a talking bear that likes to write books! If ya like weird this one is for you!
