A layered mafia boss and his prize

This one was not quite your typical mafia books as I felt the MMC was not your super rough guy. He had his moments, oh boy, he did. Hot enough to set you on fire, but he also did things like cook and try to take care of his woman. I loved the deviation from the super super touch macho guy in those little moments. Seeing both sides of the man made the story richer. It was beautifully performed by Chloe and Theo, who were wonderful in their roles.

Good story!

Dante and Aida were definitely an intriguing couple! They got together because her father gave her up as payment to Dante for a mess up he made. But then Dante was very patient waiting for her to come to him. Their back and forth was very amusing. Although I was not completely blown away by the narration. While Theo Sinclair was really engaging, I found that Chloe Ryan spoke in a way that kind if made me feel sleepy. As this is the first time I have listened to anything she has narrated I would still listen to her again in the future, as that may just have been how she interpreted Aida. I did rather enjoy some of the other characters, so I am looking forward to more in this series to see what else this family is up to!

Just an amazing story!

What an amazing story! It really took me on a trip! It has many up and downs and really made me fee for the characters. Speaking of…. I loved the characters as well! Aida started out like a surly child and really grew I to her own! Dante starts out on top…gets knocked down (by more than just Aida) and rises back to the top. Each character held me entranced….just wondering what they would do next.

What a happy surprise this story was. Its my first by this author and won’t be my last! I did listen to this on audio. Both narrators are new to me. They did an exceptional job and I would happily listen to more by them.

Good start and middle

Pretty good. Strong start. Drug on a little too much at the end. A little unrealistic as well. The main character-woman, changed a little too much and too fast. I would have liked to see more character development in that area to justify her 180.

Bad boys and girls need love.

It has been a long time since I've read a B.B. Hamel book. This is the only one I've listened to, so far. I really enjoyed it. I forgot how good this author writes. The storyline was engaging and the characters were likable...eventually. Aida stole my heart from the beginning. Her experiences changed her. Dante won my heart by the end. It took some time, but the romance happened. This is one of those stories where it completely stuck out that these are not "good" people (even if they were likable), but everyone needs someone to love.

Chloe Ryan and Theo Sinclair are excellent narrators. They were perfect for the parts. The book rolled like a movie in my head. Their voices were easy to listen to for a long period of time. Great narration!
