Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of The Little Book of Hygge, written and read by Meik Wiking.

Denmark is often said to be the happiest country in the world. That's down to one thing: hygge.

'Hygge has been translated as everything from the art of creating intimacy to cosiness of the soul to taking pleasure from the presence of soothing things. My personal favourite is cocoa by candlelight....'

You know hygge when you feel it. It is when you are cuddled up on a sofa with a loved one or sharing comfort food with your closest friends. It is those crisp blue mornings when the light through your window is just right.

Who better than Meik Wiking to be your guide to all things hygge? Meik is CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen and has spent years studying the magic of Danish life. In this beautiful, inspiring audiobook, he will help you be more hygge: from picking the right lighting and planning a dinner party through to creating an emergency hygge kit and even how to dress.

Meik Wiking is the CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen. He is committed to finding out what makes people happy and has concluded that hygge is the magic ingredient that makes Danes the happiest people in the world.

A great introduction to the Hygge lifestyle

After hearing so much about this book, I have always wanted to read it, but I also know that books like these (lifestyle) will take me forever to finish it. So an audio book is a great alternative to get the information you want and finishing it in an efficient manner.

Meilk Wiking's narration is clear with a very soothing voice. There are not that many chapters so you can go through it quite quickly. I have already listened to this book twice and will listen to it again soon.

Fantastic!!

This is a fabulous book on happiness and how to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Absolutely fantastic! At first the reader is a bit wooden but dont let that put you off. You get used to the voice, but the book itself has made me happier than I have been in ages. Get into it!

Enjoyable short listen

An enjoyable quaint easy listen to prompt simple and modest practices in our ongoing quest for living well. Great points to note and practice particularly as we enter the Autumn/Winter season in the UK I shall be making everything Hygge!

A nice insight into Danish culture and lifestyle making me want to take a trip to stock up on candles, blankets, some good quality hot drinks and inviting my loved ones round.

Will listen again for inspiration as I implement the authors suggestions :)

Beautifully written book

I didn't have any expectations of this book as it was recommended from a friend and I didn't understand the concept of Hygge. However after listening to this on a lazy cold Sunday afternoon next to a roaring fire I really enjoyed the ideas, with lots of inspiration on how to make life warmer, more engaged and happy. Left a lovely fuzzy feeling. Enjoy!!

9999999 I feel all Hygge

I can't recommend listening to this enough. Sure, reading it is ok but Meik's accent brings the Hygge to life.

I'm off for a hot chocolate

Delightful little book about happiness.

If you could sum up The Little Book of Hygge in three words, what would they be?

Insightful, inspirational, comforting

Who was your favorite character and why?

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Insightful book about what makes Danes happy and what we should aspire to do more in our daily life to achieve that happiness. The author is not preachy and merely narrates the Danish way of life with useful advice and self-deprecating humor.

Get Hyggely

If you could sum up The Little Book of Hygge in three words, what would they be?

This book is wonderful. I smiled through so many sections and even laughed. Wiking has done a superb job. I wasn't completely convinced by the trial but so glad I read the reviews and listened to the whole thing - spectacular. He is honest, funny and gets down to the truth of what hygge is, why it's important for all of us and has made me want to adopt it not just into my vocabulary, but into my way of life. He has managed to make a book about hygge, hyggely :D.

I had a thoroughly 'Hygge time' listening to this.

Took this on an interstate (red eye) flight recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. The social studies were really interesting and listening to all the discriptions of Hygge things made me feel so cozy and inspired. will listen again.

Wonderful

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. I loved listening to Meik Wiking's accent, listening to him talk about life in Denmark and what Hygge is all about! It put a smile on my face, and helped me to forget about work stresses and just enjoy!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Little Book of Hygge?

I loved all the lists he provided throughout the book of how to create hygge, the examples, the recipes etc.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

This is more non-fiction than a fiction story with scenes... but there were plenty of laugh out loud moments.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I would have loved to sit down in a comfortable chair, with a soft blanket, on a rainy Sunday and listen to Meik Wiking read this book, that would have been hygge - but instead I listen to my book while I exercise haha - but it really made the time go by fast! (Even if I did get the odd side glance at the gym as I am laughing to myself!)

Any additional comments?

I have been looking at my home and work space, and how I can create more hygge. I have already added more lamps and candles! :)

Meik if you ever see this comment; thank you so much!
