Publisher's summary

Mark R. Levin has made the case, in numerous New York Times best-selling books - Men in Black, Liberty and Tyranny, and Ameritopia - that the principles undergirding our society and governmental system are unravelling. In The Liberty Amendments, he turns to the founding fathers and the constitution itself for guidance in restoring the American republic.

For a century, the Statists have steadfastly constructed a federal Leviathan, distorting and evading our constitutional system in pursuit of an all-powerful, ubiquitous central government. The result is an ongoing and growing assault on individual liberty, state sovereignty, and the social compact. Levin argues that if we cherish our American heritage, it is time to embrace a constitutional revival.

The delegates to the 1787 Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia and the delegates to each state's ratification convention foresaw a time when - despite their best efforts to forestall it - the Federal government might breach the Constitution's limits and begin oppressing the people. Agencies such as the IRS and the EPA and programs such as Obamacare demonstrate that the Framers' fear was prescient.

Therefore, the Framers provided two methods for amending the Constitution. The second was intended for our current circumstances - empowering the states to bypass Congress and call a convention for the purpose of amending the Constitution. Levin argues that we, the people, can avoid a perilous outcome by seeking recourse, using the method called for in the Constitution itself.

The Framers adopted 10 constitutional amendments, called the Bill of Rights, that would preserve individual rights and state authority. Levin lays forth 11 specific prescriptions for restoring our founding principles, ones that are consistent with the Framers' design. His proposals - such as term limits for members of Congress and Supreme Court justices and limits on federal taxing and spending - are pure common sense, ideas shared by many. They draw on the wisdom of the Founding Fathers - including James Madison, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and numerous lesser-known but crucially important men - in their content and in the method for applying them to the current state of the nation.

Now is the time for the American people to take the first step toward reclaiming what belongs to them. The task is daunting, but it is imperative if we are to be truly free.

Only by contending with challenges...

Only by contending with challenges that seem to be beyond your strength to handle at the moment you can grow. It is curious...curious that physical courage should be so common
in the world...and moral courage so rare. This is Mark Levin...

A Workable Plan for Saving Our Country

Mark Levin again communicates expertly what the Founding Fathers intended when they wrote the documents which would form the framework for the greatest country in the world. Politicians and justices have brought us far from this original framework.
Through readings from original documents, the intent of the framers comes alive.
Chapter by chapter, amendment by amendment, we see a way out of each dilemma; the erosion of states rights, the insidious encroachment of our personal liberties, the ballooning bureaucratic state with its unending regulations just to name a few.
Our government has grown out of anyone's control, having taken on a life of its own. Over time the citizen has become impotent to resist. Mark gives the reader hope, and a way to join the fight.
Thank you, Mark Levin. You are truly a gift from God to the quiet Patriots in America who want to help save this great land for our children and for generations yet unborn.
The reader (after the author's reading of the first chapter) is easy to listen to and follow, holding my attention by his obvious interest in the subject. The listener could not ask for better.

I wish everyone would read this, understand it and act on it.

Only complaint: I wish Mark had done the audio all the way through. He does the beginning, but he is so strong.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Liberty Amendments?

We need to enhance the Constitution

Mr. Levin has penned a good start to some changes for the Constitution, I would recommend this book to get your thoughts going. We need to fix some things before the pitchforks, tar and feathers come out.

step by step to restore freedom

Clear easy fully understandable read. The best way to increase freedom, the middle class, and hope. A prescription to avoid the always doomed socialist government. If you or people you know don't agree challenge yourself and open your future and ours to the perfection you seek for the world. It will return equality by restoring the rule of law and the concept of our real rights by our very existence - "American Exceptionalism". Yes, that's what that phrase means. Its not ours. It's the culmination of the best of world history put into the form of a government for humanity presented by the founders. It's ours to maintain if we can and don't wish to ignore history and constantly repeat our errors.
