The ashes of the Winter Festival settled, but peace was a luxury I couldn't afford. The threats were escalating, and staying put meant stagnation. If I wanted to face what was coming, I had to get stronger, even if it meant leaving Waybound's walls behind.

My journey took me far East, into the mystical and perilous Shan Gui Highlands—a land steeped in spirits, Yokai, and watched over by powerful Mountain Gods. Alongside my loyal werewolf maid, my ascending phoenix ally, and an adventurous Goryeo princess, we navigated treacherous paths, battled ancient guardians, and sought legendary power. One destiny was reforged with divine flames, while I claimed a notorious Demon Blade, embracing the darkness necessary for survival.

But power attracts challenges. Our return to the Academy coincided with the legendary Summer Festival, held within the shifting, ghost city of Nevaramis. Disguised amongst adventurers and mercenaries, I entered its deadly trials, only to find the tournament was a facade. The Outer God Cult was already inside, their final ritual nearing completion.

Trapped in a labyrinth designed by forgotten powers, surrounded by ruthless competitors and hidden cultists preparing to unleash an ancient horror, the true test begins.

Good stuff

Wasn't a fan of the sacrifice of innocent people otherwise it was another compelling story.

how the main character finally was cornered

Just when you think things are looking up, this story puts a wrench into the whole process. Problems could have been avoided if Iskander just acted and spoke up and explained things but as someone who has been in high pressure situations it makes sense. The ending is very bittersweet but not off-putting, so I'll keep on this wild ride.

The stakes were raised, mistakes were made and the MC is in a tough spot.

I just wanna say this series has been on and off with this book I can say I won’t be picking up the next one because the Mc has two sets of memories from people that should have seen some things and learned hard lessons like maybe negotiating with cultist doesn’t work but that’s just one specific incongruity stuff like that keeps happening and ruins the immersion just seems like a weak way to pull the plot forward

Why is the MC still being shown as naive?

I don't know why I got this book. Because I'm dumb, easily fold to peer pressure maybe both? I don't know but I need to stop "hate reading". MC is boring. No character development still. He's the exact person at the end of this book as he was in book 1 chapter 1 the RP the lit RPG elements of this book is completely irrelevant still even though it's constantly up his class irrelevant until a big fight happens and even when a big fight happens the same thing happens as it did in the last big fights of the last was it two books three books yeah this book is like obviously enemy inspired and by that I mean this book could have 50 in trees with the stakes or so-called steaks getting higher but nothing actually getting resolved just for the next big bad or mini boss in between them and a big bad comes I don't know how to explain it it's like those Royal Road stories with like a thousand chapters but you don't know how close the story is the ending because the main character obviously isn't at the boss yet but you're so far into the story that it could be a possibility I don't know.

this was written with text to speech and I don't plan on editing it at all when I recommend this book no unless you're someone who can read or listen to anything and not really judge but as I get older I find myself more picky about what I read I don't mind reading a book if it's fun but I don't like reading something that's not consistent with what's being told that's my biggest gripe about anything literature. so in short the author is not consistent with himself when it comes to what he has said before and what he plans to do next remember and book one the great demon Forge body or whatever he was hyping up like multiple times he can't saying he can't wait until he gets to this point it will be a game changer remember that irrelevant I meant nothing it's like that legendary plus five sword you just got to kill a boss in a game becomes equivalent to a common drop sword in the next area that you go to and yes that's a theme when it comes to progression and games but when putting so much time and energy about hyping such things it should at least be a payoff for it or rewarding but it's not it's just another drop in a bucket of like endless things to come and completely irrelevant also I completely believe this author forgot that this character literally has the memories of two different people and I say this because this character does things and does it know things that he should based on his own memories in the memories that he inherited from the person whose body he has now another inconsistent thing which is the biggest issue because this was also brought up in book one chapter one and multiple times and book one as well but yeah yep sash over I rate this book one out of five I would not recommend unless you could stand reading anything listening to anything.
