Publisher's Summary

The eleventh Scarpetta novel, in which the chief medical examiner is under a grand jury investigation for murder. She knows she's being framed, and she no longer knows who she can trust....

Physically and psychologically bruised by her encounter with the killer Chandonne, Dr. Kay Scarpetta has to leave her home in the hands of the police team investigating the attack. She finds shelter with an old friend, Anna Zenner, but it is not the haven of security she needs when she discovers that Anna has been subpoenaed to appear before a grand jury that is investigating Scarpetta for murder. Kay knows she is being framed, and she knows she can trust no one.

Meanwhile it appears that Chandonne killed a woman in New York before his murderous spree in Virginia, but when Scarpetta looks more closely into that case with New York prosecutor Jaime Berger, proof of his guilt is far from certain--in fact she begins to believe he may not be the perpetrator of any of the crimes of which he is accused. As she follows the forensic trail to the real killer, she gradually realizes that someone has been spinning a web for years with the aim of entrapping her. Who is it, and why are they so desperate to be rid of her?

    "as usual"

Patricia Cromwell 's book s on Kay Scarpetta and Marino are always spell binding. I have not read any of her books in a while and I picked up the series and it was like I just finished the last book

    "So disappointed"
What disappointed you about The Last Precinct?

I used to read all of Patricia Cornwell's novels. It's been a few years, and I expected to pick right back up with the same intrigue and excitement I remember - with this one. But alas, I couldn't get past the first four chapters. So far it's just been a review of the last novel. Lots (and lots!) of the characters just playing and replaying what happened before, what didn't happen, how they feel about it, what they should have done differently, etc. Absolutely no new mystery or intrigue. Typically I finish a book regardless, just in case it gets better. Right now I don't have enough discretionary listening time, and so I'm giving up on this one.

Would you ever listen to anything by Patricia Cornwell again?

    Maybe.

What three words best describe Kate Reading’s voice?

    crisp.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Last Precinct?

The first four chapters (or more ) - until you get to the real mystery!

"Returned after 2 minutes. horrible narrator."

I love reading Cornwell so this is really disappointing. I am sure the story is amazing as always, but the narrator sounds like she's auditioning for a community theater role in "Most Obnoxious Woman" Would definitely get if the narration was redone.

"Narrator awesome & story makes u not want to stop!"

Another great scarpetta book that leaves you waiting for the next one to see where she's going & what's next! Narrator did voices amazingly well! Accents of German, French, Italian & great imitation of Marino. Greatly enjoyed!

    "One of her best."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have read them all and I am going for a repeat on the series.

What did you like best about this story?

Constant moving action. Dr Scarpetta is interesting and interested. Some of her previous books have her as depressed or overly brooding. This book may have been her best in the series.

    "Another Winner from Patricia Cornwell."

I LOVED this book. I love Kay Scarpetta and Marino. Those two make a great team. I look forward to the next novel. Sure hope it's as good as this one.
