Short and Cute

This was a cute little cosy mystery. I did find it a bit lacking in spots but if you were looking for a quick cute book to pick up this was it.

Polly's voice!

Repeated phrases get annoying but the story is good. What isn't is the voice used when Polly is, I think, supposed to be showing concern. It sounds like baby talk for heavens sake and instead of genuine concern, she just plain sounds phone. Please fix. I've already read the third one and this is common to all three books.

Charming, Quick Cozy Mystery

Polly Parrett has a lovely business as a pet-sitter in Mallowapple, Maine. As Christmas draws near she is busy taking care of pets and helping her mother plan an Open House for their new venture, Welcome Home, a residential home created as a safe haven for homeless military veterans and their pets.

Polly is only a little surprised to find a rescue kitten left on her doorstep. The greater surprise is the expensive bracelet around the kitten’s neck. The new kitten is quickly adopted by one of Polly’s dogs (which is adorable).

Polly brings the kitten to her mother at Welcome Home where two young girls have just been discovered sheltering in the barn. The girls' father is away in the service while they have been left with their mean stepmother. When a murder is reported, Polly and her lawyer boyfriend, Tyler, begin to investigate the mystery of the necklace, the runaway children and the murder.

This is light and fun listening with wonderful pets to share in the warmth of the holiday season. I loved the animals and the concept of the shelter for the vets with pets. The mystery is fully developed for a short work. Polly is a lively, likable character and I am sure I would enjoy more of her adventures.

This is a nice cozy mystery for all ages. I especially recommend it to cozy fans who like animals. It may be set at Christmas time but it is a warm story for any time of year.

Audio Notes: Jennifer Fournier does a charming job with the narration. It is light and easy and brings appropriate emotions to the listener. The audio added to my enjoyment of the story.

A Cute Cozy Mystery

I really enjoy listening to these short cozies. I find them cute and relaxing. They're especially fun to listen to while drawing or doing busy work. I listened to "Doggone Christmas" as well as this one, "The Christmas Kitten" and enjoyed them both. I look forward to Liz Dodwell writing these.

The narration by Jennifer Fournier is perfect for the characters in this story. She has a great voice and she makes this a delightful listen.

Has promise

I am a full time pet sitter so this book really appealed to me. It was sweet. No surprises. I liked the back story more than the actual plot. However, there is something there and I think it will be flushed out as I listen to more of her books. It is a fairly strong main character that I liked so it makes me look forward to future (and past) books. The narration is a little slow for my ears which seems to happen a lot. No problem, I just listen to it on 1.5 speed and it was great.

What other book might you compare The Christmas Kitten to and why?

This book is a tipical cozy Mister book ,interesting ,funny, with a bit of mystery .I'm not going to compare it with other books.Every book is unique.

Have you listened to any of Jennifer Fournier’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was the first time I heard a narration from Jennifer Fournier.I find her reading very good.I wouldn't mind hear another audiobook narrated by her.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The history is short, so you can hear it in one sitting. Its not complicated like real thrillers, beside that it is going written and read.

Any additional comments?

I recommend this book for Christmes.

Lighthearted & fun cozy

This was a cute lighthearted cozy mystery, and perfect for animal lovers because there are lots of plots involving dogs & cats. I loved that aspect, as it made it feel more cozy to me. In the beginning of the book Polly finds a mysterious kitten on her porch wearing a bracelet with a special engraving. We later find out where the kitten came from, what the bracelet means & how it ties in the mystery itself.
The whole story kept me entertained, as there are many different things happening through the whole book including finding 2 missing girls, solving a murder, some missing pets etc. I never felt like the story ever had a lull in it & the narration was excellent! All of the characters were voiced well & Polly was really brought to life. This book was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
