Publisher's Summary

For the first time in unabridged audio!

A small Kansas town has turned into a killing ground. Is it a serial killer, a man with the need to destroy? Or is it a darker force, a curse upon the land? Amid golden cornfields, FBI Special Agent Pendergast discovers evil in the blood of America's heart.

Critic Reviews

"As usual, Preston and Child deftly mix the real and the surreal, creating an atmosphere in which everything, for reasons we can't quite nail down, seems a tad off-kilter. Call it creeping paranoia, perhaps, or the dreadful certainty that something awful is about to happen. Whatever you call it, it's a recipe for success." ( Booklist)

Loved the story!

I really enjoyed the story and getting to further know agent Pendergast. I really like the way these two writers weave their tale. The characters are engaging and I'm always excited for the next book. I will say the description of how turkeys are processed makes me think twice about ever eating another one lol.

Best pendergast story!

I've read all the Pendergast series and this is the best one. I decided to listen to it after reading it. Scott Brick is an amazing narrator and does great accents of the characters. This is a must listen!

This is a book to cause Nightmares.

This Pendergast novel will be the first that I return. In my opinion it is Way Too Gory and Way Too Creepy.

Murder in a Dying Town

What did you love best about Still Life with Crows?

The Setting here fit the atmosphere perfectly. A small Kansas town dying with the lack of industry.

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

He is just a great Agent Pendergast, along with the other characters: the Sheriff and Corrie Swanson were particularly great

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The resolution with Corrie Swanson was great and was well delivered.

Any additional comments?

Still Life with Crows is a great book and a solid follow-up to Cabinet of Curiosities. It introduces Corrie Swanson and tells a pretty cool tale in a desolate area of the Midwest. I'm not sure on some of the details like who drives AMC's when most rural communities are filled with old pick-ups, but it was still a good thriller with twists and turns.

Scott Brick

This is the 4th book in the Prendergast series. I intend to listen to all of them. I must say that with Scott Brick as the narrator, the book comes alive. He is Pendergast. I have listened to many many audio books and I must say Scott Brick is superlative with his reading of the books. A lot of times I will get the audio book if Scott Brick is the narrator and I have never been disappointed. So with that said Mr Preston and Mr Child please consider Scott Brick for book number 17. He is the one who makes your books so you want to read the next and the next of the books you write 🙂
