Publisher's Summary

Where do we come from?

Where are we going?

The stunningly inventive new novel from the world's most popular thriller writer.

Bilbao, Spain

Robert Langdon, Harvard professor of symbology and religious iconology, arrives at the ultramodern Guggenheim Museum Bilbao to attend a major announcement - the unveiling of a discovery that "will change the face of science forever." The evening's host is Edmond Kirsch, a 40-year-old billionaire and futurist whose dazzling high-tech inventions and audacious predictions have made him a renowned global figure. Kirsch, who was one of Langdon's first students at Harvard two decades earlier, is about to reveal an astonishing breakthrough...one that will answer two of the fundamental questions of human existence.

As the event begins, Langdon and several hundred guests find themselves captivated by an utterly original presentation, which Langdon realizes will be far more controversial than he ever imagined. But the meticulously orchestrated evening suddenly erupts into chaos, and Kirsch's precious discovery teeters on the brink of being lost forever. Reeling and facing an imminent threat, Langdon is forced into a desperate bid to escape Bilbao. With him is Ambra Vidal, the elegant museum director who worked with Kirsch to stage the provocative event. Together they flee to Barcelona on a perilous quest to locate a cryptic password that will unlock Kirsch's secret.

Navigating the dark corridors of hidden history and extreme religion, Langdon and Vidal must evade a tormented enemy whose all-knowing power seems to emanate from Spain's Royal Palace itself...and who will stop at nothing to silence Edmond Kirsch. On a trail marked by modern art and enigmatic symbols, Langdon and Vidal uncover clues that ultimately bring them face to face with Kirsch's shocking discovery...and the breathtaking truth that has long eluded us.

Origin is Dan Brown's most brilliant and entertaining novel to date.

Dan Brown is the author of numerous number one international best sellers, including The Da Vinci Code, Inferno, The Lost Symbol, Angels & Demons, Deception Point, and Digital Fortress.

    "Good story but..."

As a fan of the Robert Langdon series this was another great book. The only thing I was a little disappointed by was that there was not really any difficult puzzles that only a skilled symbologist like him would be able to solve. One of the things I like to do is try to connect the dots and figure things out along the way and look up images to help solve things. It felt like it was lacking a little of that in this story. Regardless it was a story that I didn’t want to stop listening to and a must read for fans of the series.

    "Take Some, Leave Some"

I found “The Presentation” quite fascinating, but the chase around Barcelona to unlock the phone just got tedious… I felt like it was written with the movie in mind (which I’ll see – I admit it).

The Winston character seemed ludicrous to me, like Siri on steroids. I am tempted to label it science-fiction, except it’s not!

Loved the story but would suggest speeding up narration on your device to 1.25, large number of loong pauses at regular speed, otherwise great job!

    "Thought provoking"

It reintroduces science to answer questions about our origin and teases the religious knowledge we've come to love. I had not given any of the laws of thermodynamics quite this much thought in years. This was a refreashing take on my high school science studies.

"Where did we come from? Where are we going?"

Absolutely riveting book. Usually my wife don't make much of a fuss with the books I listen to. She gets introduced to them sometimes in the middle of the book or even the series. This book she forced me to listen to it on her timeline. She needed to know the answer to the question. I will admit I was wondering those questions myself. Just know that you will not be disappointed in this Robert Langdon story and his propensity to find himself in a baffling intrigue.

    "My favorite author!"

Love, love, love every 1 of Dan Brown's books! This isn't my favorite 1 of his; but, I do love it! Paul Michael did an amazing job in reading it as well! Hopefully the next 1 doesn't take as long as this one did!

    "Art, Science and Religion"

What makes these Robert Langdon stories so encompassing is the startling research that Dan Brown performs to weave these vivid stories. The art, the architecture, the scientific studies of the past, are all real and can be enjoyed along with the story or a dessert afterwords. Besides being an highly enjoyable read, Brown exposes his readers to pieces of art or architecture that they may never otherwise discover!

    "Not Dan Brown’s best work"

I’ve read all of DB’s novels, I really enjoy his researched back stories and in depth character development. Origin, however feels familiar and formulaic, without the bombshell plot device. Entertaining, but lacks the intensity and intrigue of earlier novels.
