Publisher's summary

Camille Tate has always run away...but vanishing whenever life gets too frightening has never solved anything.

When a broken heart sends Cam to remote Orcas Island to try her hand at caretaking and writing a screenplay, she finds quiet beaches and cozy bookstores, plus a host of intriguing folks, including a rugged boat-builder, a glamorous neighbor, and a reassuring sheriff's deputy.

But an escalating nest of mysteries and the haunting sense of being watched soon leave Cam wondering if she can believe her own perceptions. As intrigue turns to danger, she must decide whether there is anyone she can trust, or if it's time for her to vanish yet again.

wonderful

This book was wonderful. The story was alright but it said some strange things. It was a good story though and the narrator did a great job!

Decent All Around

A decent little mystery novel with a romance tint. Does a good job of painting a relatable experience of young adulthood and the soul searching that comes with it. I'm not sure how I felt about the literal "vanishing" element, and some passages came off as a little amateurish, but it was entertaining and enjoyable overall.

The performance was very pleasant to listen to, almost calming. Elizabeth Bailey's vocal delivery is careful, well paced, and easily accessible. It is easy to get lost in the story thanks to her narration. It did, however, sound as though there was a bit of a lisp in her voice from time to time. Her dialogue emotiveness did now always seem to match the actual emotions of the characters speaking, either. Overall, though, it was a solid performance and fitting for the story and main character.

Bad narrator, confusing story.

I tried! I listened to the whole story and did my damnest to ignore the narrator who sounded like she was still in high school, and to find a story...somewhere.
There was no designation between characters. It was hard to find who she was talking about. Also, they all sounded the same.
The story was more than contrived, and not easy to follow. Plus, I was getting sick of the main character with her internal drama and school girl reactions. Returning it.
