Publisher's summary

“A crackling addition to [the] Prey series” (Entertainment Weekly) from number one New York Times best-selling author John Sandford.

In a wealthy Minneapolis neighborhood, two elderly women are bludgeoned to death. They are apparent victims of a random robbery, though nothing of value appears to have been stolen. But when Lucas Davenport looks deeper, he fears that the victims weren’t so random, and the items stolen were far from invaluable. As a pattern emerges it leads Lucas to...certainly not where he expected. Which is too bad, because the killers are expecting him. And that’s only the first surprise….

Not among his best

Not one of John Sandford/Lucas Davenport's best mysteries, but entertaining as always. No real suspense to it, and the characters were a little bit weak.
I like John Ferrone as a narrator except when narrating a woman's role. His voice was kind of 'off-putting' actually.
I hope I can rate the next in the series with 5 stars.

Great audio for another Lucas

The narrator excellent, separated male/female speech well. Good Lucas story although I was conscious of more gutter language(was this because I was listening instead of glancing over the stuff?).

Fair at best

The story was fair. The narration was poor. I thought the story had potential but was disappointed. Just when I thought the story was about to get really good, the author took a turn taking it to a very mundane place. I did listen to the entire book. I have great endurance.

An entertaining read, but not the best

I love the Lucas Davenport tales, but this one was a bit shy of character development.

Sandford Does It Again. Nice Listen!

Heronimus Bosch AND the Lincoln Layer Mickey Haller - Wudda team! And as always Sanford twirls through layers of plots, each itself tightly engineered and Richard Ferrone once again executes flawlessly. PLUS there's a clever turn here on the old 'Locked Room' mystery that roasts that old chestnut deliciously.

'Invisible Prey' gave me my money's worth. Oh, as always, I recommend that you begin at the beginning of the Bosch series and work your way here. But If you must start with 'Invisible Prey' well... gotoit! Nice listen.

Good Plotting

Good, tight plot, including things that give you early clues, but which you don't recognize. The story hangs together -- just a bit of humor, but not forced or phoney. Enjoyed it.

Kept me wondering

I have read several of the Prey books and I enjoyed this one from start to finish. You always knew "who did it" but there were twists and turns along the way and some unexpected bits and pieces. I was kept wondering right up to the end how it was all going to tie in. I didn't find it too graphic or raunchy and it was easy to listen to. I enjoyed this book. More than Phantom Prey, which I found a little too 'out there' at times.

Davenport & Flowers!

Finally. It would have been cool if both voice talents could have read the book. When you’re a big fan, it’s hard not to imagine the actually “Flowers” voice in this book.
Great job.
