Publisher's summary

#1 WORLDWIDE BESTSELLER • Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon awakens in an Italian hospital, disoriented and with no recollection of the past thirty-six hours, including the origin of the macabre object hidden in his belongings.

“One hell of a good read.... As close as a book can come to a summertime cinematic blockbuster.” —
USA Today

“A diverting thriller.” —
Entertainment Weekly

With a relentless female assassin trailing them through Florence, he and his resourceful doctor, Sienna Brooks, are forced to flee.

Embarking on a harrowing journey, they must unravel a series of codes, which are the work of a brilliant scientist whose obsession with the end of the world is matched only by his passion for one of the most influential masterpieces ever written, Dante Alighieri's The Inferno.

Dan Brown has raised the bar yet again, combining classical Italian art, history, and literature with cutting-edge science in this captivating thriller.

I lost interest way before the chase was over.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Sort of.

If you’ve listened to books by Dan Brown before, how does this one compare?

It was not his best book.

Have you listened to any of Paul Michael’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

??

Did Inferno inspire you to do anything?

No.

Any additional comments?

Dan is very good, heck maybe great at holding onto a secret. He’s a master at suspense and the action never stops. However, this book would benefit if pages 200-300 disappeared. You’d never miss them. The big secrets come later, much later. By the time I was ready for the climax he wasn’t even close to finishing. So, I put the book down and read three other books before I got back to it. On whole, it was ok, worth the money. However, I expect better writing from a big time pro like Dan Brown.

A Poor Ending to an Exciting Story

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Dan Brown can definitely tell a great story; however, the heavy-handed and dubious conclusion left a really bad taste toward the book. Such a great story with all its twists and turns, surprise character revelations and suspense, deserved much better than a tired and tried "sermon" on a scientifically doubtful premise.

What do you think your next listen will be?

The Great Gatsby

Which character – as performed by Paul Michael – was your favorite?

Zobrist

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

A great narration

same old same old...

You only need to read one Dan Brown book. All of his books although interesting have the exact same plot. Robert kitson tangled in a world altering changing situation that knowing symbols and history he can help solve there's a pretty girl there's a there's an evil man and there somebody who is pursuing him that looks abnormal.

Better than The Lost Symbol

I really enjoyed "Inferno". Normally, I'll just listen to audiobooks in the car during my commute. With this book, I found myself putting on the headphones at home just to listen to more.

I never listened to The Davinci Code or Angels and Demons, but I did listen to The Lost Symbol when it was first released. I liked The Lost Symbol, but in my opinion, Inferno is even better. I especially liked the end of Inferno, where I was somewhat disappointed with the end of The Lost Symbol.

If there was one aspect of this book I did not like is that Dan Brown purposely tries to deceive the reader in several areas in order to surprise you later on. In fact, there's one particular scene that's played out where you think it pertains to one character, and then later in the book the same scene is played out where it pertains to a different character. It was so strange, that I almost thought my audio file was corrupt, until a friend who also read the book confirmed the repeated scene.

Aside from that minor complaint, it's a very enjoyable book to listen to, and I highly recommend it.

Another great read/listen

What can you say.... Dan Brown can capture the imagination with his ability to crest color and texture in his writing. You can almost hear and smell as he describes the surroundings... your heartbeat races with the intensity of the story as it peaks! Wow! And Paul Michael he is Robert Langdon. The best voice in Audible. Thank you sir for your narration.

Another great story by Dan Brown.

I loved every minute of this thought provoking story. It makes me wonder if the idea of over population is ever going to be resolved. Living in the US I believe most politicians would not consider resolving the problem as our cities have increase in homeless people in country that considers it the greatest country in the world. Hmm.

A Story Told One Too Many Times

Any additional comments?

I finished it. It was not the worst book I have listened to but let's all agree that Dan Brown has told this story and it is time to move on. At times tedious at others a bit preachy. The narration helped keep me going.

Difficult to Amazing

When I first started listening to this book, I felt it drag. Sometimes the repetitiveness made listening difficult. It seemed to stall out several times. However, after continuing through the whole piece, I realized the reason the other previous three were more enjoyable, initially, was due to my previous knowledge of Art, Architecture, Philosophy, and Language in them. With Inferno, I was not as familiar with the languages used, nor the pieces mentioned. I did not realize this was why I was struggling with the piece in the beginning through most of it. In fact, I almost discontinued the book. I decided to listen to the whole book, however, and was very glad to have done so. Keep with it and read it. The ending is perfect. It is not as exciting as the first three but it is fitting and well done.

a good book but not the best Dan Brown.

not the familiar Dan Brown style. Someone tried to copy it but make it "nice" or PC.
An enjoyable enough story but don't expect it to continue the saga of the good Ph.D. It just uses his name.
