Publisher's summary

When you're the best at what you do, it's not always easy to walk away. Nathan McBride was retired. The trained Marine sniper and covert CIA operative had put the violence of his former life behind him. But not anymore. A deep-cover FBI agent has disappeared along with one ton of powerful Semtex explosive, enough to unleash a disaster of international proportions.

The U.S. government has no choice but to coax Nathan out of retirement. He's the only man with the skills necessary to get the job done. But almost as soon as Nathan reluctantly accepts the assignment, he finds himself caught in the middle. On the one side is a ruthless adversary with a blood-chilling plan - and on the other are agents who will stop at nothing to see their own brand of justice done.

Also listen to the sequel, Forced to Kill.

Only 3 books to this series, start here & hold on!

A little more violence, torture than I am comfortable with, but wowzer!

[SPOILER ALERT] I started with the third/last book, and was glad I did because I
knew that some of my favorite people from this first book made it to the end, and I wasn't sure they would! Phew!

Next best thing to Reacher

Having exhausted all of the Jack Reacher novels I’ve been casting about like a junkie who lost his supplier...UNTIL I found Andrew Peterson’s Nathan McBride. Thank God! Thanks Andrew.

Good Recommendation Audible

For once Audible's recommendations didn't disappoint...

I am a thriller junkie, and I don’t care if more often than not the stories are a bit formulaic. As long as the plot is good, the narrator doesn't put you to sleep, the characters are likable and/or interesting, I am IN.

This book was just that. Liked Nathan's character, a master of weaponry, skills, etc, and yet, he's flawed.

Will be checking out other books in the series.

For me

2 retired snipers, very little story and too much torture. Dick Hill is his usual expressive self.

First Book in a Great Series

Andrew Peterson's 1st book in the Kill series featuring former Marine Sniper, Nathan McBride narrated by Master of the spoken word Dick Hill, is a great book.

I would compare McBride to Lee Child's Jack Reacher in a lot of ways except he didn't walk away. Nathan became a covert CIA operative. When he did retire and walked away he was certain his life would slow down and he could rest.

When a deep undercover FBI Agent disappears along with 1 ton of Semtex explosive the Government reaches out to Nathan McBride. He has a set of skills that are unique and necessary to find the missing explosives. But when he is caught between the crazy ideas of the Semtex thief and the FBI Agents who will stop at nothing to find their missing Agent, McBride must walk a narrow line to find the explosives before something unspeakable happens.

You will love this book and there are 3 more available at Audible.com.

Entertaining but quite predictable

Entertaining but quite predictable, first time listening to a Andrew Peterson novel and it was good enough I'll probably listen to the next I the series.
