Publisher's summary

Twelve-year-old Frankie Bishop is a model kid: quiet and bright. So everyone, especially his family, is shocked when he's arrested for drug possession - and horrified when he's sentenced to juvenile detention at Eldridge Academy. His uncle, Bruce Kantor of the Help Innocent Prisoners Project, wants to help but knows he's too close to the case.

His associate Dani Trumball has family worries of her own to deal with, but she knows Bruce wouldn't ask for help without cause. Just as she and her team begin to investigate, the case gets even thornier: Frankie is missing, and evidence points to an Eldridge cover-up.

As the FBI launches a hunt for the boy, Dani knows something isn't right. Why would a minor's first offense earn such a harsh punishment? Unconvinced by the court documents, Dani is dogged in her pursuit of the truth that will save Frankie's future - if he still has one.

Martin Green does not disappoint

This was simply a good book. Very little violence, no shoot outs, no foul language and no sex. I'd let my 11 yr old grand daughter read this book.

Once again, we are taken into a drama that most of would never think about. Simply, just a new kid in school wanting to appear cool to the other kids, to gain acceptance. Starts off very innocently and quickly rolls into a page turner as Frances (the juvenile in the story) gets thrown into trouble at a facility for young offenders. And his troubles are only starting. He sees things that could cause many of the personnel to loose their jobs or face jail times themselves.

Looking for Frances, his frantic mother contacts the office of the Innocence Project and before long, Dani finds herself knee deep while facing an issue she never imagined possible.

Love the book. Love the narrator. If you are looking for a courtroom thriller, this is more of a courtroom drama. Best book I have listened to in a while. Can't wait for next book.

My favorite so far

After reading my first Marti Green novel, I opted for another. This was the 3rd in a month and it was truly my favorite. I just couldn't stop listening. It made my 3 hour road trip very enjoyable, even while sitting in traffic.

Wonderful new legal thriler release in the...

... Innocent Prisoners Project series. Attorney Dani Trumball agrees to handle the case of a 12 year old boy, an honor student with no history of drug use, who is declared delinquent and sentenced to 4 months in a privately operated juvenile detention facility near his home in Florida for possession of two marijuana cigarettes. While there he is beaten badly by guards resulting in a severe spleen injury and several broken ribs. He escapes from the hospital and is captured and sold into human slavery. The questions that arise include why the judge issued such a severe sentence and does the detention facility meet state standards. But first he must be rescued from the human traffickers.

First Offense is a complex novel that includes a lot of human interest. For example, the boy's older brother is in Marine boot camp and his father, a Marine Lieutenant Colonel, is missing in action and likely a prisoner of the Taliban. This legal thriller plays with the listener's emotions very nicely. First Offense is Book 4 in this 4 novel series.

Tanya Eby does a fabulous job of narration if I overlook her mispronouncing our local city's name of Charlotte as shar-lot' repeatedly.

Dani is amazing.

I paid for the narration of the book I already received for free through kindle unlimited. I am so glad I did. I could hardly stop listening. I !oved Marti Green's previous books in this series so I knew this one would be amazing and I was right. The super smart Dani and amazing sidekick Tommy have successfully brought down a pedophile ring in this installment. The story strayed a little from the normal HIPPs cases but the boy in the story still had an unfair trial! Amazing amazing and again amazing!

very good

Real good read all the way through. I like there's not a lot of filthy stuff. I get tired of that. Nice to have a real good story.
