Publisher's summary

Ride along on this endearing road-trip rom-com from Audie Award nominee Cara Bastone - scripted exclusively for audio!

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

My nerves almost get the best of me, but then there he is, sitting down in the seat next to me. Tall. Friendly smile. Bright indigo streak in his brown hair. The perfect distraction. Turns out he’s on his way to reconnect with an old flame. The one who got away. We can both make it on time - just barely - if the traffic keeps flowing.

Playing road-trip games, avoiding calls from his mother, and effortless conversation keeps us from clockwatching...until the bus breaks down. And my seatmate turns into my copilot as we wrangle a ride in a car three decades old. And hit all the traffic. And oh, Lord, the detours. And somehow I end up careening cross-town on the handlebars of a Citi Bike carrying a box of kittens. (Yeah, don’t ask.)

He’s my hero every step of the way...and I might be falling for him. But what happens when we reach our final destination? Could my seatmate really be my soul mate?

Featuring

Dear Listener,

What was my favorite part about writing Seatmate?
"My favorite part about writing Seatmate was being able to create a private world between these two characters even though they’re in public the whole time. Flirtation, attraction, and spark can create an invite-only bubble around the people who are feeling it for each other, and I had so much fun blowing that bubble for Gwen and Sam. Another advantage to writing a story that takes place completely in public? Side characters! There’s nothing more fun than inserting a Nosy Nancy to ask the questions your main characters aren’t ready to ask themselves. This story held so many surprises for me, mostly because the real world holds so many surprises for me. I, like Gwen and Sam, was just along for the ride!" – Cara Bastone, writer of Seatmate

Sweet and fun

I truly enjoyed this book. The two main narrators were amazing. And as much as I enjoy rom com’s, it was refreshing to enjoy an entire story without all the description of body parts and what they want to do with them. I’m not a prude. Just someone who doesn’t have to wear ear buds to listen to her books in case one of the grandkids walks in. Hated to see the book end.

Pleasantly surprised

I honestly don’t know why I started this one because I was very judgmental when I started. I thought it was going to be another fluff story with a ton of the overdone characters tropes. I was pleasantly surprised.

I loved that there was no overly cringey dialogue and no weird, jarring shift in vocabulary from cute romcom to hyper sexual language. This truly felt realistic. And the performance was great.

I’m very much over the character tropes of dark brooding male love interest, not-like-other-girls leads with feminist catch phrases thrown in even though the decisions character make are a bit iffy. I don’t want to include spoilers in this but I was surprised with how many times other authors would have (and actually have) gone down a different path that made the characters unlikable to me.

My favorite in the series so far!

What a cute story and masterfully delivered by Amanda Ronconi and Zachary Webber! I loved the chemistry of the characters and the narrators!! Highly recommend this series by Cara Barstone. The story was funny, heartwarming with just a touch of sadness (as all meant-to-be but with uncertainty love stories can be). I really like the conversation style of the book. Great format for an audio book. Keep it coming!

Great Easy listen!

This was wonderful. Love love love. It was so easy to listen to. The narrators were great. The story was great. It was just a nice simple story. Not too much drama and frustrating misunderstandings. I wish there was more stories with these characters. I want to know more about their lives after the story ends.
I’m definitely looking into other books narrated by these two. I’ll feel like I won the lottery if they have another with the 2 of them.
