Publisher's Summary

Before Stephanie can even step foot off Flight 127, Hawaii to Newark, she’s knee deep in trouble. Her dream vacation turned into a nightmare, and she’s flying back to New Jersey solo. Worse still, her seatmate never returned to the plane after the L.A. layover. Now he’s dead, in a garbage can, waiting for curbside pickup. His killer could be anyone. And a ragtag collection of thugs and psychos, not to mention the FBI, are all looking for a photograph the dead man was supposed to be carrying.

Only one other person has seen the missing photo: Stephanie Plum. Now she’s the target, and she doesn’t intend to end up in a garbage can. With the help of an FBI sketch artist, Stephanie re-creates the person in the photo. Unfortunately, the first sketch turns out to look like Tom Cruise, and the second sketch like Ashton Kutcher. Until Stephanie can improve her descriptive skills, she’ll need to watch her back.

Over at the bail bonds agency, things are going from bad to worse. The bonds bus serving as Vinnie’s temporary HQ goes up in smoke. Stephanie’s wheelman, Lula, falls in love with their largest skip yet. Lifetime arch nemesis Joyce Barnhardt moves into Stephanie’s apartment. And everyone wants to know what happened in Hawaii.

Morelli, Trenton’s hottest cop, isn’t talking about Hawaii. Ranger, the man of mystery, isn’t talking about Hawaii. And all Stephanie is willing to say about her Hawaiian vacation is... it’s complicated.

Jersey girl: listen to more in the Stephanie Plum series.

    "More of the same"

While the whole series is pretty good the same gags are used throughout. Some of them are getting old. Still a lot of fun.

    "Plot difficult to follow"

I love this series. I especially like it when there's a lot of Lula. However the plot of this story was very convoluted and hard to stay on top of.

    "Disappointed"

I love Stephanie Plum series. Unrealistic, hare-brained break-ins were inappropriate. Bond-skips needed wrist & ankle restraints.

    "Overall weak"

The writing is simplistic which wouldn't be that bad but the narrator isn't very good. Her supporting characters are better than the main character, Stephanie. This is really off-puting. The story was okay but could've been better with some better writing and much better narration.

I started only listening to this series, preferring it over reading. The narrator is amazing, delivering the characters lines in superb fashion!

    "Funny and exciting"

Another fun story by Evanovich read perfectly by Lorrlei King. By now so familiar with the characters that her voices are so fun! you can just escape and listen to the hysterical adventures of Stephanie and her many side kicks especially funny Lulu. The formula works to keep your interest without revealing the conclusion! You know (or hope) all will eventually work out and Stephanie will get the bad guys (or Moralie or Ranger) and that keeps it low key enough while still realistic of a tale!
    Thanks!

    "Raz is Persistent."
If you could sum up Explosive Eighteen in three words, what would they be?

    Trenton Soap Opera

What did you like best about this story?

Just the interaction between all the characters has you talking to the recording. Very Soap Opera drama.

What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The ability to close your eyes and actually see the characters comes from the reader. She does the characters justice.

    "Still Surprises & Delights"

I thought I would be tired of the plot by now after reading 18 in a series, but it never fails to surprise me and put me in a fit of laughter in each new book! Great entertainment through both a good author and good narrator.
