Homicide detective Julia Cass has witnessed plenty of crime scenes. But the murder of a Chattanooga judge is shocking in its brutality. Teamed with FBI agent Will Brannock, Julia delves into an investigation that soon unearths more bodies - all mutilated in the same way, all left with a gruesome souvenir of a killer's ruthless rage.... Publisher's summary
Nowhere to run – the crime scenes are horrifying: the victims arranged with deliberate care, posed to appear alive despite their agonized last moments and the shocking nature of their deaths. No Place to Hide –Chattanooga grief counselor Audrey Sherrod moonlights for the local police. It’s clear to her, and to Special Agent J.D. Cass, that the murders are the work of a deranged serial killer. At first, the only link is the victims- similar physical appearance. But then another connection emerges, tying them to a long-ago series of horrifying crimes Audrey hoped would never resurface-crimes that hit all too close to home. No Time To Cry - Each grisly new discovery proves the past has not been forgotten, and the worst is yet to come. Audrey went looking for the truth and she-s about to find it-and it will be more twisted and more terrifying than she ever imagined.

Great story, great narration but some loose ends.
I enjoyed the dynamics of the story. I enjoyed how the author is descriptive about mundane things you never think about in a story that expands the imagery.
The storyline is decent but lots of loose ends for me. How did she kidnap the toddlers? What happened to the killer DA? What was the daughter's response to them hooking up?
Overall, I rate the story @ 4 stars b/c of the loose ends. Story is very interesting and sometimes laugh out loud funny. Well worth a credit.

What an ending
What an amazing book. The ending was AMAZING, totally unexpected! This is the 8th book I have listened to by Beverly, again I can’t reiterate how much of a home run this book is.

keeps you on the edge
Would you listen to Don't Cry again? Why?
this is a good mystery + romance. I do not like terror, and was unfamiliar with BB work. I am planning on buying more of Ms BB stories read by Karen White. This story kept you on the edge of your seat the whole listen, but it is still a romance story. I would listen again if time permits.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Don't Cry?
When JD stays with our heroine...he is just plain old sweet
Have you listened to any of Karen White’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I went hunting for more of Karen White's reads and found this author...I took a chance as a good mystery is just fine and takes you out of the daily grind. After Karin Slaughter work, never again as her work is based on terror. (Natalie Ross is a fave reader and that is how I purchased a terror book!!) Ms White has a great range and I have come to look forward to her good range of characters. ( See her US Attorney reads by Julie James) She can interpret an author style so well, especially whit and humor)
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
several came to mind that were spread through the book. Brothers ordeal, father's grieve with another lone survivor mother, and the good change of attitude from JD's daughter.
Any additional comments?
if you like a good mystery+ romance, then this will not disappoint...I have in my wish list the balance of ms Barton's books reads by ms white...Oh which to buy next., the Will Trent or the mouthy PI?
