If you like audiobooks that keep you on the edge of you seat, then this for you. Listeners have said they literally found themselves holding their breath waiting for what would happen next (actual comment). Dangerous After Dark is a story about loss.

Everything Grace has grown to know and love had been taken away from her. She had to leave school because the memory of her attack was too fresh. Five years later, when a handsome detective tells her that she is one of three girls who may have been attacked by the same man, she learns that she isn't as safe as she had worked so hard to achieve. Grace and Detective Patrick get a chance to get closer while keeping her safe from her attacker and stalker.

What will it take for Grace to be safe? Will she have to give up her chance at love? Will she have to give up her family in order to keep them safe?

Fabulous book!

This book has murder, intrigue ,romance I enjoyed it immensely. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire way through. The author has a wonderful imagination and this book was well written. The narrator did a great job distinguishing between the characters.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery romance and adventure .
My one dislike is that occasionally from the middle of the book Recording pauses at odd places I think it’s a glitch like when they say breakfast it pauses in the middle of the word. It’s not at the very beginning of the book but it starts about halfway through till the end. It could be just an audible glitch.

New author to me

I received this audio in exchange for an honest review.

Sorry but bad this been a story that I paid for, I would have packed it in. Not due to the story though. I had an extremely hard time listening to this audio book due to the narration. KariAnn was simple the worst I’ve ever heard. I’m hoping that she didn’t do any preview of the story because that’s the only reason I would have seen her having in this audible performance. It was painful to listen to but thankfully the story was believable and action packed. I was happy with the story line but felt the end was rushed after the detail and attention up until the last two chapters or so. I think it needed some background as to why and where her abductor came from, it was too cu5 and dried in the ending after the fast pace of the previous chapters.

I’m thankful for receiving this audio book because I enjoyed the story and gained a new author to me. I’m also thankful to make sure I never listen to this narrator again. Sorry but it was painful to hear her stumble over this story.

Romantic suspense!

Erin Thornton's debut romantic suspense is a hit with me! My favorite subgenre and this story has a sweet love story with a suspenseful undertone. Grace was attacked and raped 5 years earlier, but her case is unsolved and was not pursued with any determination to find the attacker. Now Grace does not trust men, and is just working on not being afraid. Patrick, a detective who sees some similarities in other cases takes on this cold case, not realizing that the attacker is still out there and is just waiting to make his move. This slow burn love story between Grace and Patrick is so sweet. Patrick is an interesting character, not just because of the way he treats Grace, but his ability to see and feel things within his realm that make him a great detective. Grace proves to be a strong, selfless woman and while I hate her circumstances, I love that she is willing to do anything to protect those she loves. This suspenseful story kept me on the edge of my seat til the very end.

KariAnn Christensen does the narration of this book. She has a very pleasant voice and is able to differentiate her characters. I found her pace to be slightly erratic and she hesitates as she reads. While this can be somewhat distracting, the overall story is amazing and I am looking forward to the next in the series.

Romantic Suspense

I enjoyed this story. It held my attention from the beginning all the way to the end. It had mystery and romance and an interesting storyline. KariAnn had a nice voice although I couldn't tell much of a difference between the various characters. There were so many pauses throughout the book, though, that it was actually rather distracting. I kind of think it was more of an editing issue than a narrator issue but I'm not sure. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Dangerous After Dark

This book is very enjoyable. I loved hearing inside the mind of a crazy man and the watch the way that he was taken down in the end.
Now about the narration. I felt that there were too many gaps between words as if there was a hesitation but in other spots things were so blurred that you had to catch up on a character change. After doing a quick search on audible I see that this is her first book so I am sure that the editing will be better in future books.

Enjoyed the story more

Both the author and narrator are new to me and I was provided with a copy of the audio for an honest review from the author. This was a great suspenseful story and was one that I found was better to read than listen. Being the book is on Kindle Unlimited, I found, after finishing the audio, I needed to go back and check out the ebook, because the narrator was very difficult to follow, especially when a scene was changing. She spoke way to fast while telling the story and I found that, based on the ebook copy, she wasn’t breaking where she needed to break.

Grace had tragic events happen to her that were not taken seriously and now five years later they are coming back. Patrick believed what happened to her and did what he needed to solve the case. While the story had its element of darkness and suspense there were some fun moments as well. One thing I did find off with the story and part of the reason I am not able to give it a five star review is because the chapter length was inconsistent. I understood why when we had one particular person’s point of view why those chapters were short but to have one chapter last over an hour with others less than ten minutes and even less than five for others. I confirmed this variation when looking at the ebook and that it wasn’t because of the speed of which the narrator was speaking. Add in that things did get a little confusing at parts of the story which again I needed to check with the ebook. With some revision this book could be a five star.

Great story

Erin Thornton is a new author to me. I love Romantic Suspense. I love the main characters, Grace and Patrick and I love their slow burn and sweet love story. This story is suspenseful, entertaining and fast-paced, filled with intrigue and romance. I love the Epilogue and the HEA. This was my first listen to KariAnn Christensen. She has a great voice, but unfortunately, her pace was a too fast for me, sometimes erratic, and it was very difficult to stay focused. If I'm not wrong, this was her first reading. So, I think she can easily adjust her pace and give a better experience for the listeners. Overall, this was a great story, but I didn't really enjoy my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
