Publisher's summary

Tom Dunleavy has a one-man law firm in America's wealthiest resort town: legendary East Hampton. But his job barely keeps him in paper clips. His clients make a living serving the rich. The billionaires and celebrities swarming the beaches already have lawyers on their payroll.

Very Expensive
Then a friend of Tom's is arrested for a triple murder near a movie star's mansion. Tom knows in his gut that Dante Halleyville is innocent. Dante asks him to represent him in what could be the Trial of the Century.

Very Exclusive
Tom recruits Manhattan superlawyer Kate Costello to help. She's a tough hire, because Kate is his ex-girlfriend, but she agrees. In their search to find who really executed three locals, Tom orchestrates a series of revelations to expose the killer, and what emerges is staggering.

Very Explosive
The final scenes of this audiobook unveil a truth that will leave readers gasping in shock. Written with the precision that has made James Patterson "a master of his genre" (USA Today), Beach Road is his wildest, most thrilling novel ever.

I really had high hopes after listening to the authors other work

I really came into this with high hopes. I’m a fan of twist endings and surprises but I’ll be very honest here, it felt very very lazy.

I downloaded for the references, dealt with a Baldwin reading it even. Then when the twist hit I almost stopped listening.

I just can’t recommend this audiobook.

Dreadful!

There have been very few books in my life that I have been unable to finish but this was one of them. I don't know which was worse, the story or the narration. Unintelligent, one-dimensional and boring. Don't even bother.

Mediocre pulp fiction

Well trod plotting(plodding)with dopey unsubstantiated twist, which for reasons unclear to me caused some sort of stir. The perfect summer novel for people who have never had any time to read anything, ever.

Bad Ending!

A decent story that ended with a ridiculous twist. Everyone likes a plot twist, but not the one Patterson served up here. If the story was not written in a first person narrative the ending could have been somewhat acceptable. Even if you are a fan of Patterson, do not waste your time!

Same old story line

This same old story line has been used over and over again. As another reviewer said, " this is a cookie cutter book". Another reviewer stated that the only reason he gave it two stars is that he managed to finesh it. That is why I also gave it two stars. In an unsuccessful attempt to shock the reader, he totaly recreated the lead charactor at the end of the book. The multiple readers did not bother me. It was the only thing I liked about the book.
Finally, if I may quote a third fellow reviewer: "Don't bother"!

Any additional comments?

This story was just LAME.

Dont Bother

I would not waste a credit on this, and the fact that I did forced me to listen to the end. Multiple readers make it confusing to listen to and the story is bland. Dont bother....

soap opera

I loved this book until the morphing of the main character. I will never read it again or recommend to another reader. It was as if he didn't have time to finish the book so he gave it the first ending that came to his head. More to the point it was like a soap opera where the characters change their basic personality to keep the show going on for years. I will be very careful before I get another of his books. Looks to me like he's doing a "Patricia Cornwell" and setting his readers up for some bad reading.

didn't buy the ending

I've read and listened to at least 10 James Patterson books and enjoyed most of them.
I was enjoying this one but the plot twist towards the end made absolutely no sense to me.
