Publisher's Summary

The picturesque Cotwsold village of Winter Parva has decided to warm the post-Christmas season by roasting a pig in the town square. Agatha, always one for a good roasting, organizes an outing to enjoy the merriment. But as the rotary spit is placed over a bed of fiery charcoals and the pig is carried toward its final resting place, Agatha realizes that things are not as they seem...

"Stop!" she screams suddenly. The "pig," in fact, is Gary Beech, a policeman not exactly beloved by the good people of the village. Although Agatha has every intention of leaving matters to the police, everything changes when Gary's ex-wife hires Agatha's detective agency to investigate - and then is murdered too. With that provocation, how could any sleuth as vain and competitive (and secretly insecure) as Agatha do anything other than solve the case herself?

Once again, the Cotswald is full of fun and entertainment. Agatha is brilliant and shows up the local police by solving yet another crime. I recommend this series to all cozy mystery readers.

"Agatha is acquiring some REAL friends..."

But you have to hear the entire story before you will realize it!
Another great murder mystery. And this one seems to have more substance when it comes to Agatha's relationships with her friends and associates.
Very enjoyable and, as usual, marvelous narration!

    "Agatha's at it again....."

This entry is filled with danger for Agatha and her band of friends and employees. As always, a rollicking good time is in store for the listener; a thrilling and unusual mystery plot, great narrative performance, and a great lead character who is smart and sassy, and even sexy when she wants to be. There's something for everyone in this one, and it even highlights Agatha's humanity and weaknesses to a greater degree. "Snakes and bastards, what a great listen!"

    "Penelope Keith: Enough Said!"
If you could sum up As the Pig Turns in three words, what would they be?

    Engaging, amusing, and enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

It didn't signal the "who dunnit" in the first chapter, like some British "cozies" sometimes do.

Have you listened to any of Penelope Keith’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes! Her voice is consistently like that of an intelligent, amusing, witty, and slightly sardonic friend relating an entertaining story over the phone in my ear. I've listened to several Agatha Raisin novels, some narrated by Penelope Keith and others by someone else. Those novels voiced by Ms. Keith are by far my favorites.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Come for the barbecue, stay for the entertainment!

    Any additional comments?

Please, please! Hire Penelope Keith to read more of anything - seed catalogues, mobile phone contracts, software user agreement documents - anything!!!

"Penelope Keith is perfect as Agatha Raisan"

I'm a big fan of the books which are charming and funny and Penelope Keith (whose acting I love) is the perfect fit and a great narrator.

    "Slight Spoiler!!!"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes, it is in the same vein as all the same stories. There is no real substance, but it is a good listen.

Would you recommend As the Pig Turns to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, I like the light, easiness of the stories. Doesn't require a lot of concentration to follow.

Which character – as performed by Penelope Keith – was your favorite?

I love her portrayal of Agatha raisin and Roy.

Was As the Pig Turns worth the listening time?

Yes, I love Penelope Keith. She dramatizes the characters wonderfully.

    Any additional comments?

This is where there is a spoiler...for those who have been following the stories...was surprised to find that Simon who was an orphan in the last book, now had parents. Surprising...

    "Agatha Rocks!"
Would you consider the audio edition of As the Pig Turns to be better than the print version?

I find reading the book and listening to the audio to be an equal treat. I do find it fun to listen to Agatha's escapades on my way to and from work. I find that when I read I hear the voices from the audio versions!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It did so. Just when you think you know - there is a twist and you start again to wonder!

    Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the scene where Agatha saved Simon in the hospital. This is a woman I would definitely want on my side in a time of trouble.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Like all of the books...I felt frustrated for her insecurities, tender thoughts when Mrs. Bloxby shows Agatha unconditional love that she craves, laughter at some of the situations Agatha gets herself into, etc

    Any additional comments?

I love the relationships Agatha has with Charles and Roy.
I sometimes get irritated by the fact that MC Beaton did not allow Agatha to age....I think it could have worked. But I enjoy the stories and the characters so much I cannot stop listening to the stories over and over again!

    Not sure
