Entertaining and enjoyable

Easy and entertaining. Definitely hot. I absolutely recommend for fans of morally grey smutty obsessed killers. While the plot may not be all that amazing(it’s about what you would expect)it wasn’t boring, the twist idea was kind of novel, and the sex scenes are decent. All in all I’m glad I gave it a chance. A satisfying addition to any Dark Romance collection.

A strong maybe

** spoiler alert ** I was really enjoying this. I loved the whole aspect of it.

Then the ONE thing I hate was mentioned.
cheating.

I have DNF'd books for less. But I stuck it out, wanting to know how it played out.

I loved Carin Hart's books, but this one wasn't as strong of a hit for me because of that. I love her writing style and her ability to tell a story. If it wasn't for that one thing, this would have been another 5 star read for me from her.

The narrators. I loved Maeve's voice for this. I think this was my first time hearing her. Walker's was okay but he seemed very...breathy? I don't know how to describe it. It was like everything he was saying was a breath instead of him actually speaking. It wasn't like he was trying too hard to sound sexy.

Listen to if you loved Scream

I had a great time listening/readind this book. I really did have all the feelings of one of my favorite horror favorites “Scream”. Cyn in this book is definitely Sidney Prescott but instead of unaliving Billy and Stu she ends up with Billy. Our FMC is Cyn Preston and she lost her husband to a car accident five years prior to the events of the book. Our MMC is Clay Rivers, Cyn’s “dead” husband who is pretty upset with Cyn for moving on. If you were a fan of sl*sher horror movies growing up especially Scream then this is definitely a book you need to sit down and read/listen too. This audiobook is told through diet narration by the wonderful Maeve York and Walker Williams. The spice in this book this great too. We go not really get any spice scenes until Clay comes back into the story but when he does it’s definitely a good time. I would give this a 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5 for spice.

Not too entirely bad..

"My Wife" by Carin Heart presents a story with genuine potential that unfortunately falls short of its promise due to execution issues, particularly in the audiobook format.

The Good
The overall plot concept shows real promise and provides the foundation for what could have been an engaging read. Despite its flaws, the story manages to deliver entertaining moments that keep you turning pages. There's enough substance here to make it a worthwhile, if not exceptional, reading experience.

The Not-So-Good
The audiobook experience significantly detracted from my enjoyment of this novel. The male narrator's performance was particularly disappointing - his voice work felt forced and unconvincing, pulling me out of the story whenever male characters spoke. This is especially problematic in a book where strong character voices are essential to the narrative's success.

Final Thoughts
While "My Wife" has its moments and the core story remains solid, the poor narration in the audiobook format seriously hampers the overall experience.

This book moves fast and was a fun read for halloween time. every time I think I know where the story was going , it changed directions. this book was fun and insane and captivating
