I loved Dimitris inner dialogue. Joe did a good job of making it easy to distinguish between Dimitris spoken thoughts, and his inner thoughts. I had goosebumps and at times was kicking my feet. Joe and Lucy are amazing together. I can’t wait to get the physical copy of the book

It's unsettling. It's uncomfortable. And it walks a line between horror and heartbreak.

Joe Arden delivers a jarring, unforgettable performance. His use of a Russian-accented speaking voice paired with an English inner monologue makes Dmitry's fractured mind come alive in a way that is both unique and unsettling. It’s not just acting, it’s embodiment.

And then there's Lucy Rivers. She doesn't speak often in this book, but when she does, her voice haunts. Lucy doesn’t need many words to deliver devastation. She simply is Natalia. She also voices Dmitry’s mother, a woman trapped in a body and mind that can no longer communicate, and somehow even without words, she leaves an impact.

J.A. Roles wrote a masterpiece in Call Me Freak.
She makes you uncomfortable, makes you squirm, and then somehow finds beauty in the pain. The reunion between Dmitry and Natalia is not gentle. It is a stunning explosion of pain and long-buried need.

I was holding my breath through the last several chapters, desperate to know what was coming next and terrified of what might happen. And just when I thought the story was about to settle, it ended on a cliffhanger that left me reeling. There’s no comfort in the final page, just a heart-pounding sense that the end of Call Me Freak is just the beginning.

first class narration

Definitely pay attention to the trigger warnings before reading. This book is not for the faint. Numerous times, I had to ask myself if I was going to continue. I always did because I just couldn't put it down.

I think the author said that this book could be addicting, and I have to agree with her. I'm going to be super impatient waiting for the next book. I can't believe that one silly book about dragon riders has brought me to this. I'll never go back. This genre now has me in a chokehold.

Joe Arden and Lucy Rivers were totally on fire with their narration. They are probably my favorite narrators for dark romance ever.

Best Performance!

One of my top 5 overall reads and I was so excited for it being added as an audiobook. I definitely was not disappointed! I thought the book destroyed me, but the audio did it so beautifully! Joe and Lucy brought Dimitry and Natalia to life! Joe tapped into Dimitry so well that it was like they became one. I felt every word and emotion. The way he brought Dimitry's unhinged, psycho personality and his overprotectiness over Natalia will give you goosebumps. Dimitry is not your typical fairytale hero, but he is Natalia's knight. He will do anything for his Little Sparrow. This is Dimitry's POV and with every word and scene Joe narrated, especially during the broken scenes brought tears to my eyes. Let's be honest, Joe has one of the most sexiest voices out there. His Russian accent, when he whispers, those spicy scenes, will melt you and have you blushing. 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 Lucy the way she brought Natalia's character to life, her voice just as sexy, when she remembered who Dimitry was and how she expressed her love for him took hold of my heart. Joe and Lucy out did themselves! A definite standing ovation 👏 Thank you J.A Roles for an amazing read and thank you Joe and Lucy for one of the best performance of an audiobook I have had the pleasure of hearing! Dark Stalker Romance

Call Me Freak by J.A. Roles is a dark stalker romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Lucy Rivers and Joe Arden.

This is the first book of J.A.'s that I have read, and it won't be my last. The relationship between Dmitry and Natalia is extremely messy and toxic. But I can't help but root for them as they overcome their past traumas.

I didn't realize the book was part of a series until the end. I am left with a lot of questions and can't wait for the next book in the series Call Me Freak Again to be released on September 14, 2025.

Joe and Lucy did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you're looking for a dark romance, stalker romance, or psychological thriller.
