Torch Those Tropes and Create Happy Little Bonfires
This audiobook is my third time to read this story. It’s such a fun play on romantic tropes and the ridiculousness of love at first sight and instant relationships.
Culture shocks galore from oddly shaped suns and lizard venom treatments to historical interpretations with very hot (yes, I put that pun there) fire elementals.
Despite the inevitable sparks between their cultures, you can’t help but cheer for Kelly and Anthony when you’re not laughing at the craziness. Permission granted to skewer and roast romcoms granted!

Lots of fire jokes!
Fun, fast listen with lots of fire! This story just goes with it. It doesn’t bother explaining the plausibility of aliens or the fact that the heroine becomes a fire elemental. Even her parents don’t blink an eye on the page. What we do get is an unusual proposal, a panicked rejection, and an eventual happy ending. This is charming and proves that a clean read doesn’t have to be boring.
This is a good title to read or listen to, great for a commute. Recommended.

A fun, quick read! Or listen :)
This was a fun, quick read (or listen, in my case)! I felt like the level of satire varied a bit during the course of the story, which made it unclear whether it was meant to be pure amusement or have an underlying message. But it was well-written, funny, and unpredictable, plus the ending was perfect :) The narrator represented Kelley's voice well and was a great match for the genre.

My alien boyfriend is a short read. perfect for on the way to work or to occupy you between rest stops on a long road trip.
I loved the satire using typical romance novel language to highlight the ridiculousness of relationships bas d on physical attraction that move too fast.
