The pathfinder, Shea, has chosen to make a place for herself among her former captors, leaving behind her people and the life she once knew. However, not all welcome this outsider in their midst. Shea will find that surviving alone in the wilderness is child’s play next to navigating the politics that come with her new position. Especially when it becomes evident that there are those out for her blood.

As a new danger looms on the horizon, Shea and her warlord will need all the allies they can find. Because something is stirring in the barren lands from which all beasts are born. Something old and not seen since the last cataclysm.

Can Shea protect her people from this new threat or will it be the dangers from within her own inner circle that destroy her?

Full of adventure and mayhem, just what I like. If you like fantasy and romance this is the perfect choice, this series does need to be read in order, for maximum enjoyment. I liked how we got to get to know the main characters better in this story and how they grow with the passage of time. More and more of the characters grow on you as you get to know them. I love the story so much that I barely even noticed there was a narrator change, both do a good job with the series.

Just as good as the first one.

honestly, the narrator for the first book had some horrific pronunciations too (stead and steed are NOT PRONOUNCED THE SAME), but this one stood out because of the sheer number of times the word implacable was used and mispronounced every. dang. time. did no one listen to this before it was released???

the story and world are fascinating and the first two books have managed to be surprising, touching, action-filled, joyful, heartbreaking and erotic all at once. the heroine is imperfect in a relatable head-strong way, and it’s fascinating watching her and her warlord (a title used too much tbh) grow, change, argue, and move on. they learn from each other and both become better for it. love this series so far. can’t wait to listen to the next one!

great book; terrible pronunciations

I absolutely lived this book. It had the same quirky heroine as the first book, more exciting adventures, new monsters, and more assinstion attempts. I can't wait to listen to the third book in the series to find out what happens next.

Loved it!

I love that the heroine is strong and strong minded. No weak screaming dithering lady in distress bit. The author not only made her the strong smart woman but one who out thinks the husband at times and he not only listens but respects her unique way of thinking. Could that all men follow suit, but they do not usually. Thank you for the wonderful adventure! It is refreshing to say the least. I will continue the saga in the next book.

This has everything I loved in the first book and more. Now we get to see Fallon and Shae dealing with everything together as a couple. I absolutely adore how protective and possessive Fallon is of Shae. You really see how much he feels about her and would rather die than lose her.

I'm also loving how the some of the clans are realizing how special Shae is. Some are still stubborn, but the others are starting to realize how smart she is and have started to trust her.

There is just so many fascinating things happening in this series. This one ended on more of a cliffhanger than the first and I will be starting book three immediately. I'm pretty angry at her father and I'm very curious if Shae's people really are as cutthroat as they are being portrayed.

Just gets better!
