War can get a fellow killed. The fearless draconians of the War of the Lance have retired from the field of battle to a pleasant valley in the Kharolis Mountains. Well, it would be pleasant, if it weren't for some dwarves, whose irritating feuding prevents the draconians from realizing their greatest hope - the ability to continue their doomed race. When the dwarves discover a map leading to a fortune buried in the dwarven kingdom of Thorbardin, the draconians are swept up in a feverish race for treasure.

Keeping the standard
Margaret Weis has long been noted in our family as a top notch author, and she continues to maintain that standard with this book. This is the first audio book we've listened to by Ms. Weis, and Gigi Marceau-Clarke has tapped into Ms. Weis storytelling style with remarkable skill. The only down side: waiting for the next segment of the story!

Boring
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would not recommend this to a friend. Weis is clearly dialing it in here.
Has Mistress of Dragons turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. There are still plenty of other good books in the genre.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Gigi Marceau-Clarke?
Depends on the book.
Was Mistress of Dragons worth the listening time?
Not at all worth the listening time.

What a great story!
My husband and I just finished this audio book and we anxiously await the next installment of this imaginative and unpredicable story. The characters are richly drawn and the story constantly kept us amazed and guessing. Ms. Weis is not afraid of getting out on a limb and that is one thing that makes this story so fascinating and unique. The narrator is well-choosen. The book is told in a well-paced voice with good character differenciations. I loved being carried away to the land of dragons and the unpredictible human pawns during our long commutes to work.

simple minded
I chose this book since I had been a fan of Weis and Hickman's Dragonlance stories as a child. This story fares well as a fantasy, but the characters for the most part seem to be dumbfounded one dimensional creatures who have no more depth then thier role in the story. the story wanders in and out of coehesion and that is slightly annoying. In the case that you are seeking background noise in the form of an audiobook then please give this a listen but if you are coming to this expecting a grand adventure like older works that our mistress has worked on, then shy away and wait till she wants again works with the assistance of a solid writer.

I couldn't put this book down. About the time I thought I knew what it was about, it shocks me by something I never saw coming.
I was very intrigued by the story, and can hardly wait to listen to the 2nd book. Definitely worth your time to listen to this one.
