Solid Entry in MG Fantasy Series
Summary: Elle Burton’s brother has disappeared. Jimmy becomes a Guardian. Elle might be the Chosen One, but she has to save her brother first.
Additional Comments:
- It’s definitely middle grade.
- It probably helps to read book 1.
- The audiobook was well-narrated.
- Elle’s a fun character. I don’t get much sense of Jimmy, but I think he’ll be important in the series later.
- The magic world is pretty well-defined. There are some terms that are probably better explained in book 1.
- The danger and way they solve the mystery is fairly realistic.
- I enjoyed the way Elle’s home life progressed. There’s good balance of her being a hero and just being a 10 year old kid with a heart of gold.
- I don’t usually comment on covers but the audiobook one is by far my preferred one vs the ebook one.
Conclusion: Solid entry in an interesting MG fantasy series.
*I received a free audiobook. The decision to review as well as the rating was my own.

Not a children's book
I listen to book one and found the subject matter way to grown up and involved for it to be a children's book. At least not a young child which it seems to be geared toward? Now this second book leads straight off the other book. Kid napping, death of another child , possession by Demond's it's a little hard to figure out what age group this is geared towards. I find I like the books over all and the characters are well developed and likable. I really believe these books could have been broken down into smaller books so they didn't feel so overwhelming. I think more then anything that's the problem. ( I can't believe I'm saying it either) but there is just too much to take in at one time. Consider making theses smaller books and allowing the reader or listener a chance to breath before the next tragedy or adventure strikes. I received this book at no charge in exchange for an honest review.
