Publisher's summary

"Mindfulness is not a destination. It's a Journey. Mindfulness is in the present moment."- Author.

Make your life easier with practicing mindfulness meditation. Because this allows you to have a positive mental and emotional outlook on your relationships, your education, your job or your career goals. This book will not make every wish you have come true, but it will show you how to dare to dream - to reach for your goals no matter where or who you are. Meditation is a good way to de-stress and relax. It is also ideal to use in recreating an individual's spiritual and emotional well-being. This book will address this thinking as mindfulness meditation aims to bring calmness and serenity from deep within to help you reduce stress instead of heightening it. It is important to understand that mindfulness meditation is not a procedure. Instead, it is a method of life. While meditating, you need to terminate your thought process. It denotes a state of awareness, when your mind doesn't have scattered thoughts and ideas. Here are a few common effects of meditation on your psychology or mental state:

  • Meditation can provide you with more peace of mind and happiness
  • It can help you become an empathetic person
  • It can help you become a highly creative individual
  • Self-actualization is another great advantage of meditation
  • It causes a great reduction in both chronic and acute anxiety
  • Meditation complements psychotherapy and many other approaches to treat addiction

Lots of practical steps for the beginner

This book has lots of practical steps for how to make mindfulness meditation a part of your daily life. If you're looking to start a meditation practice this book could be useful for you. It did cover some more advanced techniques which I didn't thing was appropriate for a beginners book.

Not really a fan of the narration. Harry's pitch went up at the end of many sentences, to me this indicates a question, but these were not questions. I also found the narration overly melodic in pitch to me a book on meditation would be better served by a calm narration.
I think I would have been better off with the eBook.

A Basic Guide For Beginners

Mindfulness for Beginners would be a helpful tool for a person who's new to meditation and mindfulness. There's nothing heavy, just the basics are touched upon. In his book, Martin Lippmann mentions a few of the more well known mindfulness teachers such as Jon Kabat-Zinn and Jack Kornfield, both of whom I've chosen for meditation in the past and present. Zinn's Guided Meditation for Pain Relief was one of the first meditations I ever tried.

So if you're wondering whether or not to try this audiobook, sure why not. If you're new to this, then maybe you'll learn something. If not, then perhaps you'll learn something new. Every chance for positive reinforcement is a good thing. The author does offer what he calls a dynamic meditation as well as some breathing instructions and yoga poses. He also suggests using a calender which is a good idea. I would like to add though that there is an app for all that. Not free though.

Harry Roger Williams, lll did a fine job narrating. He spoke clearly and was positive and upbeat.

Any additional comments?

This was an interesting book. I am new to this and now I feel like I can get into it. Well written but I didn't really care for the narration.

A quick guide to meditate

If you could sum up Mindfulness for Beginners in three words, what would they be?

Open Your Mind

Have you listened to any of Harry Roger Williams, III’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The narrator gave a great performance. I listened to this audiobook in one sitting.

Any additional comments?

This audiobook lays the foundation for meditation, the importance of mediation, and the best practice for meditation. This is a quick listen that will help motivate anyone to get started in meditation. You can listen to sections repeatedly since the chapters are easily identifiable. A great start guide, look no further than this beginner's guide.
