Publisher's summary

Absolute power corrupts even the best of friends.

Mildred Graeme is a witch that knows what it's like to fail. She loathes small talk, struggles with magic, and grew up wretchedly poor. What's easy for her best friend Evelyn, a wealthy, powerful socialite, is difficult for Mildred.

The two lifelong friends reunite at Chatham Castle where they fight together for the dream of a better world. Mildred wants to save the Network from political elitism, while Evelyn encourages it. When Evelyn gains power and threatens to obliterate the Network, Mildred realizes that she must overcome her fear of failure to save the lives of those she loves, even if it means betraying her best friend.

Mildred's Resistance is the prequel to The Network Series and a gripping tale of intrigue, betrayal, and unexpected romance that defies all odds to rise above the ghosts of failure.

Fantastic Book

This was a great book. I very much enjoyed seeing how Mildred’s journey of growing up, finding friends, finding work, and how she built the resistance and then becoming the high priestess. There where many things I didn’t see coming or how they would play out even though I read the 4 network books before this one. If you enjoy magic, mystery, love, and overcoming evil give this book a try. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Good Read

I had heard this series being compared to Harry Potter, which I love! It,s NOT Harry Potter, But is a very good read in its own right!

A must read!

This one drags

I loved book one in this series, but the prequel dragged. I couldn’t finish it. I’m going to try book two and hope I like it more.

Read like a bedtime story

I hate to leave bad reviews because I know how much hard work goes into recording a book, but I bought this because it had good reviews, and now I'm returning it, an hour in. So far the story is fine, and I almost kept it, but I just couldn't get past the fact that it sounds like a babysitter reading a bedtime story. It's rushed, and there is very little differentiation of character. Very little emotion. The narrator's voice is pleasant, and I'm sure a child would love listening to her read, but I expect more from an audio book.
