A weekly newspaper dedicated to the weird and the wonderful (but mostly the weird), The Stranger Times is the go-to publication for the unexplained and inexplicable. At least that's their pitch. The reality is rather less auspicious. Their editor is a drunken, foul-tempered and foul-mouthed husk of a man who thinks little of the publication he edits. His staff are a ragtag group of misfits. And as for the assistant editor...well, that job is a revolving door - and it has just revolved to reveal Hannah Willis, who's got problems of her own.

Publisher's Summary
Book three in the gripping supernatural series by the best-selling author of the Chronicles of St Mary's series.
I don't know who I am. I don't know what I am.
The identity of Elizabeth Cage has always been a mystery. Even she doesn't know who, or what, she is. But she's learned to live with it.
Until now, when what should have been a peaceful holiday turns into anything but, and Elizabeth is forced to recognise that she isn't what she seems.
But neither is anyone else. Has her whole life been a lie?
Someone very badly wants to know the truth about Elizabeth Cage. And they'll do anything to find out. But who will live to regret it?
Twisty, dark and incredibly gripping, the Elizabeth Cage novels are perfect for fans of Sarah Painter and Genevieve Cogman.

Growing on me
Long Shadows is the third book in the Elizabeth Cage series, and the storyline, characters, and plot continue to grow on me. While this series certainly contains the expected snarky banter readers have become accustomed to from Jodi Taylor's writing, the Elizabeth Cage series is much darker than Jodi Taylor’s other story's. That said, it is exciting and enjoyable.
As with all her writing, Jodi Taylor has a way of making the reader fall in love with the characters, and not just the primary character. The supporting cast has already become like old friends. In Long Shadows Jodi Taylor finally provides readers with insight into who Elizabeth Cage is, where she comes from, and why things keep happening to her. In the end, the book is an excellent addition to the series and I look forward to the next book.
Jodi Taylor let Zara Ramm narrate the audiobook and while the previous two narrators were very good, Zara Ramm is simply outstanding. This makes four series that Jodi Taylor is writing, that I am avidly following. Ms. Taylor is making it very difficult for me to decide which series I want her to be dedicating her time to. In the end, I guess it does not matter because they are all fantastic.

I've waited for this book for AGES!
August couldn't get here quickly enough for this must read!! Jodi has yet to disappoint, this book being no exception. Following along as Elizabeth Cage navigates life with her unique skill-set, I can hardly put the book down! Also, Zara has a beautiful voice that perfectly suits this series (Anything Jodi publishes to audio must have Zara as the narrator; Otherwise, it just wouldn't be the same.)

Finally, Elizabeth Cage gets a sense of humor!
I love Chronicles of St Mary’s, Time Police and Frogmorton Farm series. This series, while good, lacked Jodi Taylor’s signature sense of humor and through the first 2 books and 2 narrators, seemed to struggle to find a voice, pun intended. Now with the third volume and the addition of the incomparable Zara Ramm as narrator, the story gets pace, sarcasm, humor and life. So glad I stuck with the series after the first two audiobooks.

Phenomenal!
It is rare to find a series in which each book is better than the last, but Jodi Taylor has done that in spades with the Elizabeth Cage series. The first two books in the series, while well written and incredibly entertaining, left me scratching my head over several plot threads. But since the second book.was better than the first I decided to stick with the series and get the third. I'm so happy I did because Long Shadows blew me out of the water! Everything from all three books just falls into place and makes perfect sense now (yes, even the troll!) Elizabeth gets some long awaited answers about who she is, where she comes from, and even about what is real. Now she has to decide what she is going to do with those answers, and also with those who want to destroy her entire world in order to keep those answers a secret from her. For extra perfection, Zara Ramm narrates this one!!! (I felt like a kid on Christmas morning when I heard her voice, because I did not know she was reading Long Shadows. She did not read the first two books.) Her differentiation of characters voices and accents, plus her amazing ability to capture the emotions of the characters and her spot-on comedic timing, makes anything she reads a true joy to listen to, but she just really out does herself in Long Shadows. I'd say this is her best ever, and it might be Jodi Taylor's best ever, too, which is saying a LOT!

Another all-net perfect shot
A total blast, though I had to put my head between my legs on several occasions due to mind bending plots that had me running to catch up. “Thurs” the Troll? 😆. The 3 Sisters😳? Sleeping Gods? 🤯. Hope to see more books in this series. I feel the partnership of Jones and Cage is just getting started.
Zara’s performance is her usual phenomenal. ALL narrators for each book are excellent. At this point, I trust anyone Jodi Taylor hires to perform her books, including other short stories, and my favorite, “My Name Is Markham.” Warning: wear Depends, that narrator is pee-your-pants funny.
Thank you Jodi Taylor for filling the troubling parts my days with super great stories, big smiles and belly laughs. You are admired and appreciated-

Supernatural Supermix
I really love Elizabeth Cage and her relationship with Michael Jones. She’s a very likeable and relatable character. I feel this series has found it’s place with this third novel. The truth behind her revealed and how she now embraces it. Imagine my excitement when the names of two children had both my names. Ok, so they were really a bit of a MacGuffin and died horribly…but who cares. I’m inadvertently in the pages of one of my favourite authors.
I’m so glad Jodi Taylor decided to write another story for this heroine. It feels there are plenty more adventures for her. Iblis and Maleck in particular ( no idea how they’re spelt) are really developed here. The relationship with Michael Jones is so tantalising.

Well, I didn't expect that! You do need to listen to Jodi Taylor's books in order or you will miss the meaning of some things. Elizabeth Cage and Michael Jones are back with screaming ghosts, Gerry and Gerald this time and a whole lot of other characters along for the ride. And what is that thing in Elizabeth's head? Sounds familiar
I love Jodi Taylor and have all of her books. Elizabeth cage is one of my favourite characters and I particularly enjoyed the second book and the inclusion of Ibliss. He really livened things up and was a loveable character.
This book I enjoyed but Jodi this is very reminiscent of Buffy and the Glory stories.
It was well written and engaging I was just a little disappointed with the comparison.
That said won’t stop me from buying more.
Can’t go wrong with a Jodi Taylor book to fill an afternoon.

Found this story a little disjointed this time and felt it really didn't get going until much later in the book. Having said that there are some lovely and touching new characters. What really slightly spoilt it for me was the change in the narrator. Don't get me wrong, Zara Ramm is sulperb in the ST Mary's series, but I felt that Elizabeth Cage had suddenly turned into Max. I rather liked the previous narrator who made Elizabeth Cage an individual. I'm really disappointed and wonder why it was necessary.

Another great story!
I love the Elizabeth Cage stories, and this is no exception! it ties us a lot of ends, we find out who she is, and it’s mind blowing!! Loved it and would 100% recommend it.

At last Elizabeth is properly brought to life
Just love Zara Ram. My favourite audio book performer. Bringing her on board to perform Book 3 has saved this series for me. Not Jodi's best series, but still miles ahead of almost everyone else and with Zara performing, it's a winner

A Wildly Imaginative Romp
Well, there had better be a Book 4 in the series because this one does end somewhat up in the air. I love Jodi Taylor's sense of humour. I admire her wide ranging fantasy plotting. Her characters are engaging and endearing or insidiously evil as required. And Zara Ramm is the authentic voice of narrator, Elizabeth Cage.

not sure at all
I love the first two books but I was put off with this one. The story was great but having the same Narrated as the st Mary's series was not for me . I'm afraid it sounded too much alike! sadly it spoiled it for me..
