When I was a little boy and couldn't sleep my father, A. Duane Griffin, would come into my room, and sit on my bed. I would snuggle under the covers with my stuffed animals and he would tell me stories about Mickey Monkey. These Mickey Monkey stories were a wonderful part of my life for years and unfortunately, none of them were ever committed to paper. Not having the benefit of my father's memories of them as he passed away in 1999, I must rely on my own. These stories may not be exactly as he told them over forty years ago, but they are as close as I can remember and, I hope, reflect the same spirit. I hope that through this book other children, especially my own grandchildren, may snuggle under the covers and drift off to sleep with the words: "Once upon a time in the Big Green Forest..."
