Story
Told from four-year-old Laura's point of view, this story begins in 1871 in a little log cabin on the edge of the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. But it is also exciting as Laura and her family celebrate Christmas with homemade toys and treats, do the spring planting, bring in the harvest, and make their first trip into town.

Delightful
I was looking for a relaxing feel good book and came across this collection of animal stories for children by James Herriot. The book is good for all ages as the language is not written down for children. There is also a story of the “Christmas Day Kitten”. Most appropriate for my December reading/listening.
The book is one and a half hours. Was so great to listen to Jim Dale narrate the book. Dale is the “Voice of Harry Potter” as he narrated all of that series. Dale won two Grammy awards, seven Grammy nominations and ten Audie Awards. He is an English actor, singer and audiobook narrator. He also won a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 1980. Dale was recently inducted into the 2017 Audible Narrator Hall of Fame .

Definitely one of our all-time favorite!
The narrator's voices are amazing, and the entire book had us completely entertained and delighted the entire time. My kids, age 7 and 10 couldn't wait to hear more each time we got in the car! it went by too quickly, and we can't wait to get into James Herriot's other books as they get older.
