Publisher's Summary

I don’t want Jason Vega. Not at all. It’s the worst idea ever. Ah, hell...

Jason is handsome. Smart. Dangerous. Hot. He’s goddamn gorgeous - but he’s also sleeping on the street, hanging out with the local biker gang, and selling his body for a living.

Our lives, our paths, couldn’t be further apart. I’m crawling toward the light while he’s falling into the dark.

But it doesn’t matter how different we are or what logic dictates.

I really shouldn’t want Jason Vega - but I just can’t stop.

He’s under my skin and sinking deeper....

Trigger warning: violence and sexual abuse. This is a M/M (gay) romance that tells the story of Jason and Raine, who appeared in the Damage Control series. It is super hot and angsty and violent but with a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

What a ride

Jagged edge blew me away 🌪. This was my first book by jo raven, and won’t be my last. This book is not your sugary sweet romance. It’s rough, raw and some parts were hard to listen to, but it is a romance and it does have a happy ending.

Almost returned this...but....

Jo, once you got going, you caught me. The character development was strained for me for a little while, and I honestly came close a few times in the first half on giving up, but when I was just about to call it quits, you intrigued me with "something". Glad I stuck it out. It's a powerful story in so many ways. And overall, it is a memorable read.

Teddy/Iggy, good job.

Listener, try this book, and hang in there with the characters. It is not for the squeamish or faint of heart, some of the subject matter is really intense, and yes, I mean really intense, but it was well worth the push thru to the last half...well worth it.

Teddy broke my heart

This is no rom/com romance. It is a street, dirty, gritty M/M romance.

Jason has been a prostitute for many years, he could get out, but he doesn't so he can protect those younger than him in this life. He's repeatedly robbed, beaten, degraded. It's just all in a days work for him, hungry cold and dirty is how he ends his nights.

Rainne Storm is an old friend, or frienemy? Well they didn't get along well even though they had a mutual attraction.

Jason has secrets - he won't tell those around him who do try to help him. He fears for the safety of everyone he loves.

Over and Over, Rainne reaches out to Jason, to protect him, to love him. Jason pulls away, because he feels he has to, but he doesn't want to.

When they each allow the other to love them, it's beautiful. This was a very emotional ride, the narrators, Iggy Toma, and Teddy Hamilton did such a wonderful job. Teddy especially pulled my heart along with his.

So so...

I loved Jo Raven’s Candy Boys for the story, writing style, and phenomenal performance. The narrators here did a great job as well, but the story was so angst-filled that I was tempted to skip forward. It became annoyingly redundant - a perpetual “boy (sorta) gets boy; boy loses boy.” It needed a good editor. Unlike the sex scenes in Candy Boys, the sex scenes in JE were uninspired. Overall, it felt a bit forced.

Highly Recommended

For myself, the test of a compelling book is if It leaves me wanting to know the characters in real life. Very few stories do. However this book does. Raven does a terrific job making each character splendidly clear. This of course is complimented with the excellent narration. It’s as if the writing of the main characters let us glimpse inside their thoughts. Well done.

loved it

loved it? yes absolutely.
This book was exiting to me, keeping me on edge wondering what will happen to every character in this book.
Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite narrator and he never disappoint, i love the way he reads the lines, it makes the character come alive and care for everyone.
When it comes to Iggy Toma this is my first book I've heard him read and i can say that he didn't disappoint, I loved every minute off this book.
I'll most likely to listen again and fint others off them both.

Lots of Angst

This is my first book by this author (audio or otherwise).

It's a m/m romance about two broken boys - Jason (a hooker) and Raine (the younger brother of a character - Ocean - from a previous book). Both guys have endured horrific childhoods but have chosen to deal with the pain differently.

I liked both characters however, the amount of inner dialog just about drove me crazy.

The sex is smokin' hot (have a fan near you).

Having two narrators worked okay here - would have been okay with just one too.

Strong performance couldn’t save this

The Teddy/Iggy team of readers were great, but such repetitious unimaginative writing and a totally predictable plot overcame their talent. Really, gays should demand better than this c**p.

I Wanted More... Something

I believe this is a first for me by this author. I don’t really know what I was expecting, this cover is what jumped out at me and I had to listen.

I liked the characters and their connection, but it kind of felt one-sided for the most part. Jason really goes through the wringer in this story and I sometimes didn’t think Raine understood the situation Jason was in. I wanted him to care more for this man he was lusting after.

I think this book could have been freaking great but it was just too slow, and I wanted more magnetize between these characters I wanted to feel their lust and romantic need for each other. I just didn’t feel it.

It wasn’t terrible or anything I guess I just wanted more.

I loved the narration Teddy’s voice is YUM. Is that a descriptive word, haha NO but I don’t care it is what it is.

Did not finish

I liked the well written characters, narration and how the story pulled my heartstrings. But I had to suspend too much disbelieve to focus on the story.

Great story! Amazing performance!

I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. I love it so much, it quickly became one of my favorite MM romances. Right up there with HIM and the Psycop series! Iggy Toma has secured his place in my top 5 narrators! I can not recommend this enough!
