Publisher's summary

For fans of Nevada Barr, John Connolly, and dogs of all shapes and sizes, a K-9 series with a touch of the supernatural, spine-tingling suspense, and characters who'll stay with you long after the story is done.

K-9 search and rescue handler Jamie Flint and her team - both human and canine - are called in when a group vanishes during a dogsledding expedition for battered women in the Mahoosuc Mountains of Maine. When it's learned a rogue gunman was involved in the disappearance, authorities look to the abusive partners of the women now lost for answers.

Meanwhile, a voice from Jamie's past begins to haunt her, echoing the words of the shooter now in pursuit of a target Jamie alone can save. With her K-9 partners Phantom and Casper at her side, Jamie must confront the demons of her own past as her team fights the elements and the clock in order to find the missing women and bring them home.

Heartwarming story

SAR dogs work depicted very well and realistically. Different dogs, their characters and their relationships to each other and to humans and situations so well developed and described. Dogs are real characters in this story and I love it!
The story is interesting and suspensful. I listened to all three books in this series one after another in a matter of a week. I would keep listening to the fourth and fifth if they were there.
I truly recommend to anyone who loves dogs, well written female characters, a bit of mystery, and interested in SAR.

Keeps you on edge

There were a couple of tiny holes in the story, but it all tidied up in the end. Plot keeps you listening on the edge of your seat. Really enjoying this series!

Inside the Echo

Really enjoyed the story. Love the great storywriting with thrills. Especially love the interaction with the dogs and the other senses that humans possess if they know how to reach them.

Great story!! Loved this one!

I really enjoyed this story! It pulled me in from the beginning and then the story just kept ramping up so I was really into and engaged by the end. It didn't really feel like there were any flat points or like things stalled out, it just kept steadily ramping up with the intrigue and mystery of what was going on, who was the woods and who was involved. This story was well written and had a great flow. The tension was great as it kept ramping up without being too much. I loved getting to see more of Jamie and Jack and Bear and Wren, along with the dogs. This story is about the search for the missing women and bringing them home safe with an active shooter in the woods as well. We do get to see a little bit more of Jamie's past and get to see her build a little bit more of a connection with Jack as well as getting to see her son Bear and Wren getting closer but the focus is not on those relationships. I loved getting more of Phantom and Casper and watching the dogs work. I really enjoyed this story! It was really good, another great story for this series and I can't wait for more. It is a standalone though.
The narrator did a great job with this story as well. Great with the accent and different voices and really brought the tension and action to life with what was going on with all the characters. I really enjoyed it.

Perfect book for a drinking game!

Listen with friends and drink every time you hear the word regardless. You will all be plastered by the third chapter. Regardless, it is a decent story and worth the listen. The narrator needs to visit the south so she will realize the difference between a drawl and a country hick.
