Publisher's Summary

I thought I understood power.

My parents taught me that magic attracts equal danger, and everything I've seen since becoming a demon contractor confirms it. I've witnessed how power twists and corrupts - and I've tasted power no human should wield.

I thought I knew greed.

Ambition and avarice drove my family into hiding. My parents died for someone else's greed. I've never hunted anything in my life, but now I'm hunting their killer - with my demon's help.

I thought I'd seen evil.

But with each step closer to my parents' murderer, I'm uncovering a different sort of evil, piece by hidden piece. I've stumbled into an insidious web that silently, secretly ensnares everything it touches. My demon and I came as the hunters...but I think we might be the prey.

Make sure to check out the companion series, The Guild Codex: Spellbound, available now, and The Guild Codex: Warped, coauthored by Rob Jacobsen, available summer 2020.

Blushing, mumbling, and stumbling. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Is it me or is this Robin chick extremely immature? The entire book she acts like a pre-teen. Blushing, mumbling, and stumbling. 🤦🏽‍♀️

It's like the author wants to write a story around adults but can't get past creating teenage characters. If your character cant even say the word "Mating" or "Intercourse" then they shouldn't be having it... so it's hard to support this romance when the lead character is obviously not ready. Please make her more mature so we can feel comfortable with the idea of her and hot demon dude.

With that being said, I am excited about the next book. Obviously we will get more Izra in both series 😄.

Chris Dukehart is a perfect narrator for this series.

This series is hard to out down.

Annette Marie writes relatable, flawed, Human feeling characters. Tori and Robin aren't empty reader insert characters they feel like people you wouldn't mind having a beer with. they make motivated decisions and have moments of real self doubt and triumph alike. I've recommenders these series to several friends and I recommend it to you.

fantastic

I love how this book takes us more in-depth to the characters' lives, families, and pasts.
I do wish Robin could get past the blushing stage already. As a fellow painfully shy person, I can relate to it at first, but at this point in their relationship, she should be more used to how demon boy doesn't have a concept of personal space. I can't wait for the next book!

finally the slow burn makes progress!

This series is a lot of fun. There has been a slow burn between Robin and her demon and we finally make a little bit of forward progress in this book. highly recommend this book.

Must get! Pronto!

As the series continues to take you adventure to adventure. You will be captivated and turning pages until you are left at the cliffhanger wanting more. That’s what the author does to you and it’s just cruel lol... love audiobooks! Anyway, I

I still miss the Chase the Dark Series

This series is good, but the characters aren’t as strong for me as the Chase the Dark Series! I loved all of those characters and have been waiting with bated breath for the Incubus to reappear. I miss Piper and her gang. These guys are cool, but just not as cool!

I Really, Really, Really Enjoyed This Book!

I really, really, really enjoyed this book! Everything is falling apart but I have faith that the author knows what she's doing. This author sure knows how to weave a story and make it stick to you like glue.

Robin is sweet but at the same time kick*ss. The relationship she maintains with Zylas is incredible and complex. I like how she blushes even when the wind blows too hard. She's adorable and Zylas has become her rock to a degree in these past few books.

Zylas is awesome! He's been slowly learning human customs and it's finally showing. He has a very calculating side to him and I love how he's using it to help Robin. Also, let's rejoice at THOSE scenes! I didn't expect it to happen but it did and I'm not crying, you are!

The one thing I disliked about this book was how the author had to backtrack and replay events from Robin and Zylas's point of view for quite a bit of the novel. It was still exciting but I wanted to story to move long even farther not be stuck catching up to the latest Guild Codex: Spellbound book.

I loved how the depth of Robin and Zylas's relationship evolved, especially at the end! I can't wait for the last book in this series. It'll definitely be one of those books where I'm sad to say goodbye.

The Audio Book:

The narration was fantastic! There were no strange noises in the background and all the character's were discernable from each other.

Amazing book as always

I love this and the companion series. Every book keeps getting better and better. Annette Marie knows how to draw you into the story and become so invested in the characters that you don’t want the story to end. The narrator is great and I would love to her her narrate other novels. So excited for the next and last books of the series to come out!

Intense and action packed.

This book is building up to an explosive climax for the fourth and final book, everything is starting to unravel. Whilst things between Zylas and Robin are slowly sparking up, there are times I want to lock them in a cell and say have at it. This book has many of the questions answered from its previous 2 books, but not all is revealed yet. All of the characters are interesting and each have different powers, some of the characters are from Annette Marie's other series's. Definitely worth reading them all to find out more about these characters, I can't get enough of this series. I think that's all I can say without giving anything away or spoiling it, but if you love feisty arrogant demons and nerdy heroines then you will love this.

Brilliant

I LOVE THIS SERIES.. I love the characters, the story.. I love the way both this and Toris series overlaps and still leaves so much room for separate story’s.. I love it makes me laugh so hard it’s actually embarrassing in public places, but also can make me cry and so chocked over a situation that I’m right there with the characters. Ezra is amazing in this book as is Robyn and Zylas and so many others.. a brilliant read that I can’t recommend enough.

Exciting 🌟 Thrilling 😈 I want a demon

Love, love love , this series. I’m very hard to please and I’ve listened to many audio books which start off good but then go down hill quickly. This book is such an adventure , love all the characters and the Narrator reads the story really well.
The writing is very clever and really pulls you in all directions.

So much fun and action. With a little romance.

Okay. I read this on the train and there were times I was smiling so much I probably looked like a lunatic. I even read that chapter, (you’ll know the one when you get to it) on the train, it’s was sweet and fun.

Never Fails to impress

This book expands on the previous two in the series as well as introducing two new Characters, which I'm assuming will be the base for another splinter series.
No surprises. It's as as good as the previous books. A great insight into how to over think a relationship.
