Publisher's Summary

Most Christians know they should be trying to tell their friends and family about Jesus. But in a post-Christendom world, personal evangelism is viewed negatively - it's offensive, inappropriate, and insensitive. Recent studies confirm that the majority of Christians rarely evangelize, worried they might offend their family or lose their friends. In How to Talk About Jesus (Without Being That Guy), author Sam Chan equips everyday Christians who are reluctant and nervous to tell their friends about Jesus with practical, tested ways of sharing their faith in the least awkward ways possible.

Drawing from more than two decades of experience as an evangelist, teacher, and pastor, Chan explains why personal evangelism feels so awkward today. And utilizing recent insights from communication theory, cross-cultural ministry, and apologetics, he helps you build confidence in sharing your faith, and teaches you how to evangelize your friends and family in socially appropriate ways.

life style evangelism

Reading/listening to it for the third time. I have my staff reading it at church now. I asked my wife to read it so we can work together to influence our friends and community.

Very good

The narrator was superb.
The content was excellent
Provided much food for thought.

Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I only do that when buying a physical copy.

Something I would definitely listen to again.

Some practical tips on sharing the Christian story

Chan provides some useful advice on how to share the Christian message with others. These include making it a team effort alongside other Christian friends, attending events with your non-Christian friends, being hospitable and starting small, listening, showing how the Christian story offers what we long for, tell them stories about Jesus that gets them thinking, be like a chaplain, realize disagreement can be okay, sometimes things happen when we least expect it.
For those who want a short book, this is ideal. Personally, I prefer Chan's longer book, Evangelism in a Skeptical World: How to Make the Unbelievable News about Jesus More Believable, which already covers most of the content in this book.

worth listening to, even if you disagrew

Sam Chan is one of the best evangelists out there today. Some may find some of his content concerning, but it's worth giving him the time to show why a pastoral, congregational approach to evangelism is needed today.
Knowing Chan personally, I did find the speaker an odd choice.

This is the book you need!!!

This book distils a lot of the material from Sam’s other book ‘Evangelism is a Skeptical World’, but it is written in a way that really inspires the reader to hone their evangelism. But here’s the great thing about it, it also teaches you how to have real relationships with people. You want direction on how to properly listen to those you know so that you can understand them more and how the gospel answers their needs... this is the book you need! Do you want direction on and inspiration to share Jesus in ways that will connect to people... then this is the book you need!!! If you want guidance on ways to use God’s word to share the gospel and the need people have for Jesus... then this the book you need!!! I will be recommending this book for years. Sam is a great teacher when you want to understand the shifts in culture and how it affects the way we share Jesus with others. If you want to share Jesus and not be awkward or abrasive, this is the book you need!!!

Encouraging! Practical! Useful!

Sam explains each concepts using Bible stories or personal stories to help ground the idea in real life. Each idea presented seems possible. Keen to prayerfully help my christian friends know my non christians friends, and to try out nudge questions.
