The Zondervan Biblical and Theological Lectures series provides a unique audio learning experience. Unlike a traditional audiobook's direct narration of a book's text, Isaiah 40-66: Audio Lectures includes high-quality live recordings of college-level lectures that cover the important points from each subject as well as relevant material from other sources.

Isaiah wrestles with the realities of people who are not convicted by the truth but actually hardened by it and a God whose actions sometimes seem unintelligible, or, even worse, who appears to be absent. Yet Isaiah penetrates these experiences to see a greater reality. Isaiah portrays God's rule over history and his capacity to take the worst of human actions and use them for good. He declares the truth that even in the darkest hours, the Holy One of Israel is infinitely trustworthy.

Isaiah 40-66: Audio Lectures features Old Testament scholar John Oswalt teaching through the book of Isaiah in short, engaging, and challenging lessons. Based on Oswalt's Isaiah commentary in the NIV Application Commentary series, these lessons bring the meaning of Isaiah into the twenty-first century. As Oswalt works through the book passage-by-passage, he comments on the text itself and then explores issues in Israel's culture and in ours that help us understand the meaning of each passage.

This was such a wonderful series of lectures on Isaiah 40-66. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Dr. Oswalt does such an amazing job showing the major themes in the passages. He points listeners to Jesus as God’s Messiah, our life of obedience through the Holy Spirit, and the hope we have in the New Heaven and New Earth (Isaiah 65:17), which is the consummation of Jesus’ kingdom.

Absolutely Marvelous

The balance of scholarship and devotion that I needed. I listened multiple times with elevated speed as a survey then slowed down with an open Bible for prayerful consideration and reflection - section by section. I chose 2022 to be my year to get to know Isaiah, his God and his message. I will never be the same and this book has been tremendous.

I was very surprised when I realized that it was broken down by verses which made it so much better when I have questions about a verse.

Very interesting
