Pop music blares from the radio. She sings drunkenly from the backseat. The thrash of windscreen wipers against the driving rain. The screech of tires. A thud.

Naomi and I are best friends.

School runs, dog walks, a shoulder to cry on over a glass of wine - we’re inseparable.

But now my husband has walked out, I need her more than ever.

I know she will help me pick up the pieces.

Because she knows about the lie I told to protect her.

She knows how much I’ve sacrificed for this friendship.

And she’d never let anyone hurt me.

Would she?

This extraordinary novel will suck you in from the very first moment and keep you gripped until the breathtaking finale. Fans of The Wife Between Us, The Girl Before, and Gone Girl will adore this twisted tale of toxic female friendship.

Wow. What a story and what a conclusion. Shocking, yet not, for its portrayal in many ways is very real. This could be about a neighbor across the street or the girl next door, walking and talking like a regular person, but hiding private pain and horrors within.

Very Intense Psyco-Drama

I didn’t dislike it yet I wouldn’t put in in my favorites either. It was a toxic friendship that would have ended for me after the first dog encounter. Sophie was not a good friend at all and around every corner she proved that over and over. A true friend doesn’t do sketchy crap to you to make you be her friend. So by the end it didn’t really surprise me how it would go. I actually thought it would be a Thelma and Louise situation. Sadly no one won in this story. Although it was slow in some areas, but it held my interest.

Engaging enough

At first I liked the book but about 3/4 of the way thru it started to get silly and unrealistic. I almost stopped listening but I forged on until the end...I wish I could give a better review but I can’t, it was disappointing:(

Started out well but half way thru...

Unputdownable. Great story with twists and turns all the way through. A great performance from the narrator.

Kept me riveted all the way through.

this story really takes you on their journey, too close to how life can take some wild turns,
and you can regret them for the rest of your life.
