Sweet and Fluffy Goodness

4.5 Stars!

If you've read any of Susi Hawke's books before, you already know what you'll be getting when you start a new one. A sweet, steamy read with fascinating characters that you can't help but loving. And that's exactly what happened here with Tobias and Caleb.

Tobias and Caleb were just perfect for each other. Caleb was so sweet and caring, and Tobias was so caring and supportive. They seemed to bring the best out of each other and they were very hot together.

The story was very low-angst and fluffy, but you know? Sometimes that's just what you need and Susi Hawke delivers just that.

I'm a huge Drew Bacca fan. He always does such a fantastic job narrating these books, giving them the extra-oomph that makes them stand out for me and Healing Choice was not the exception. His voice is just so nice and pleasant and he brings the necessary emotion in every single scene. Very recommendable!

Not Your Usual Shifter Story

Caleb, an omega wolf, is living with an inoperable brain tumor and has already lived longer than the doctors expected him to. He knows he could be gone at any time so he uses his time left to use his sense of smell to detect cancer in humans, trying to save as many lives as he can before his time is up.
When Fae Tobias sees a magic portal appear in his bedchamber, he can't help but cross through. Finding the Legacy Warriors and a Fae prince offering him a chance to find is heartsong, the Fae version of a soulmate, Tobias knows he won't turn them down. The only problem is he has to get Caleb to fall in love with him without using magic or tricks before their time runs out.
This is the start of the fifth series in the same "world" and each one has gotten progressively more "magical". We started out with just shifters, then we added shifters with enhanced abilities, add in gods and goddesses, magical creatures, and now we have Fae and their heartsong.
All in all, it was a good story, but I felt that the author kept finding "loopholes" to get around the "No Magicks or Tricks" rule and even with the shifter/mate, immediate attraction, I felt that this was just a little too much. For example, he can't use magic/tricks on his heartsong so he uses them on Caleb's best friend to trick her into keeping him around and helping Caleb with the Cancer-Sniffing Dog Seminars. While I'm okay with one or two loopholes to push a story forward, I felt that this one had a lot of them.
The narration by Drew Bacca was very good. He did an amazing job at bringing the characters to life. His skill at narration continues to grow with each book that I listen to by him.

Beautiful love story

Caleb has accepted that he does not have long left but is determined to help as many as possible until that happens. Tobias is given a chance to find his heart song on Earth when the portal opens for him. He never imagined that his heart song would be dying. When he is given the choice of staying or going to Fae, Caleb realizes that his life doesn't have to end and he can have the love he has always wanted. I really enjoyed how the story continued after Caleb makes his choice and we are able to see the world that has only been hinted at in the past.

The narrator does an incredible job with all the characters and brings the story to life.

A delightfully interesting story

Hawke's Healing Choice was a delightful story. I found the plot engaging, the characters likable, and Bacca's narration is a fitting choice. I really enjoyed this.

Sweet story, good narration

This was such a sweet story, I enjoyed it very much. This story is a bit different from other books by Susi Hawke, and I found the new angle refreshing and heartwarming. Narrator did a good job giving voice to all the characters and making this feel good story a great listening experience. I am looking forward to other books in this series and more books by this author/narrator team.

Fantastic

Susi Hawke has done it again and has created a wonderful and fun new spinoff series. Filled with Far and shifters, heartstrings and choices.... Laughter, love and sexytimes. I can not wait for more of this series....

Fluffy clouds and rainbow sparkles! 🦄🌈 What a sweet, little, heartwarming story! Loved it! ❤️ It’s not often that we get Faes in our stories so I was really smitten when I heard that this book is a mating between a Fae and a wolf omega. 😁 And I know Susi Hawke is the queen of fluff so I was expecting a lot of feel-good, awwwwww-worthy moments and I wasn’t disappointed at all. 😉


Caleb is an omega wolf who’s living on borrowed time. Terminally ill and already one step at the death’s door, he was determined to save and help as many people possible before he leaves this world. Tobias was more than surprised when he realized there suddenly was a portal to the human world in his bedroom. And when he entered to human world, he was given a choice to meet and mate his heartsong (soulmate) if he can make his destined mate fall in love with him in one month. One month isn’t a lot of time but Tobias is nothing if not determined and adamant. And how difficult it could be to convince your mate who’s dying to give you a chance and that you are worth living for.


Normally, I like some amount of angst in the stories because more often than not, angst-free stories just don’t work for me. But it’s not the case here. Although it’s angst-free, fluffy and really really cute, these two worked for me big time. 😍 I also loved the fact that I got generous amount of their mating life. 😉 Usually stories end when protagonists ride off into the sunset but it’s not the case here. I got a lot of lovely marital bliss and a very cute baby bump plus adopting of a very lovely Fae child. 🥰 I also liked The secondary characters in the story, interesting, realistic and really brings out the story. And Drew Bacca did a fantastic job narrating this story. 👏 It was a delight to listen. I’m really looking forward to more books in the series. 💜🦄

A really good start to a new spin-off series

An enjoyable spin-off from the Legacy series. I still need to read the Legacy Warrior Series, really now sure how I missed that one. Anyway, I loved both Tobias and Caleb. We initially meet Tobias when a portal opens in his bedroom to the human realm and when he steps through, he is given the opportunity to find his heartsong. The catch, he can't use his magic on his mate. I enjoyed, but would have liked more of, watching him trying to navigate the human realm and figure things out. He finally tracks down his mate & at first thought it was a female but realizes that the wolf shifter with her actually. Caleb uses his superior smelling capabilities to detect cancer and it was sad, especially when it was a child. When Tobias and Caleb meet, Caleb is hesitant to accept him because he is dying. He is then given an opportunity to go back to Tobias realm. I loved see Tobias' realm through Calebs eyes and hope we get to spend some more time there, maybe seeing his brothers find their heartsongs? For those of you that have enjoyed their other books that take place in the realms, you will enjoy this one. Drew Bacca did a great job narrating this one.

Very enjoyable, low angst, fated mates story

This is a very enjoyable, low angst story of a wolf shifter and a fae finding their mates in each other. I was a little lost at the very beginning as to who the people were who sent Tobias on his journey to find his Heartsong, but I guess there are predecessor series' that might provide more background. The heart of the story about the blooming love between Tobias and Caleb was extremely sweet, and I loved Caleb's fairy companion. I kept thinking maybe something would eventually cause trouble or something would go wrong with Caleb being thrust into someplace so new and different, but - refreshingly - there was no drama or angst, just a supersweet story with fantastic characters, mpreg, and lots of love.

The narration was very good. The characters were each given distinctive voices, and the tone and delivery were smooth and relaxing.
