Publisher's Summary

Find your mate and choose your fate.

Caleb Beardsley is a simple omega wolf living out a life that’s already passed its expiration date. He knows he doesn’t have much time left so he’s using what little he does have by using his enhanced sense of smell to detect cancer in humans. If he can save just one life with early detection by acting as a cancer-sniffing dog, it will be mean he’s lived a life well spent...albeit shorter than it should’ve been.

No majicks or tricks, nor cheat or spell… conceal you’re Fae and hide it well.

Tobias of the Coppersmith Clan is gobsmacked when a long-forgotten portal to the human realm appears in his bedchamber. What else can he do but cross through and see what awaits him on the other side? He finds the Legacy Warriors and a Fae prince waiting to greet him. When they offer him a miraculous opportunity to find his heartsong, Tobias isn’t about to turn them down.

You can reveal all after love’s true kiss.

Tobias is stunned to discover his human heartsong is dying. Thankfully, the way to save him is to offer him the grandest adventure of all - one that involves immortal life, fated love, and a chance at a forever family in the Fae realm. The only problem is...before he can save his life, he first has to get Caleb to fall in love with him without using majicks or tricks.

Not Your Usual Shifter Story

Caleb, an omega wolf, is living with an inoperable brain tumor and has already lived longer than the doctors expected him to. He knows he could be gone at any time so he uses his time left to use his sense of smell to detect cancer in humans, trying to save as many lives as he can before his time is up.
When Fae Tobias sees a magic portal appear in his bedchamber, he can't help but cross through. Finding the Legacy Warriors and a Fae prince offering him a chance to find is heartsong, the Fae version of a soulmate, Tobias knows he won't turn them down. The only problem is he has to get Caleb to fall in love with him without using magic or tricks before their time runs out.
This is the start of the fifth series in the same "world" and each one has gotten progressively more "magical". We started out with just shifters, then we added shifters with enhanced abilities, add in gods and goddesses, magical creatures, and now we have Fae and their heartsong.
All in all, it was a good story, but I felt that the author kept finding "loopholes" to get around the "No Magicks or Tricks" rule and even with the shifter/mate, immediate attraction, I felt that this was just a little too much. For example, he can't use magic/tricks on his heartsong so he uses them on Caleb's best friend to trick her into keeping him around and helping Caleb with the Cancer-Sniffing Dog Seminars. While I'm okay with one or two loopholes to push a story forward, I felt that this one had a lot of them.
The narration by Drew Bacca was very good. He did an amazing job at bringing the characters to life. His skill at narration continues to grow with each book that I listen to by him.

Cute! Great Narration!

A complimentary audio was provided in exchange for an honest review.

This was an adorable story. The cover is very indicative of the type of story you will be getting. I thoroughly enjoyed these characters AND the narration. I HIGHLY recommend this narrator and will be looking at other stories he has done.

As for Healing Choice, Caleb and Tobias are fated mates, but live in different worlds. When Tobias is allowed to come in to our world, he is able to track down his mate, who happens to be a wolf shifter and uses his super smelling to ferret out cancer/illness in people. Caleb is sick though and is dying. After a day of cancer detection, Caleb collapses and Tobias is there to help him and his foster sister. Using his magic, Tobias calms the sister and makes her think soothing and good things about Tobias.

Because this is a fantasy story and fated mates with mpreg, I didn't take much of what was happening too seriously. This is a light story meant to bring a smile to your face, not induce deep thoughts or big mood swings.

The connection between Caleb and Tobias is sweet and is of course instant, but it still felt good to me. Tobias was given 30 days to find his mate and fall in love, and after that they would be given a choice - stay in our world or live in Tobias's. Since Caleb is sick, of course they chose not to stay in our world.

Seeing Tobias's world was cool. It did show that even in his world people can be poor and mistreated - which I wasn't expecting.

I'll let you figure out the rest of the story on your own. :) It does deal with mpreg and on page birth. Such a cute story I give it 3.5 stars. 5 stars for narration.

Sweet and Fluffy Goodness

4.5 Stars!

If you've read any of Susi Hawke's books before, you already know what you'll be getting when you start a new one. A sweet, steamy read with fascinating characters that you can't help but loving. And that's exactly what happened here with Tobias and Caleb.

Tobias and Caleb were just perfect for each other. Caleb was so sweet and caring, and Tobias was so caring and supportive. They seemed to bring the best out of each other and they were very hot together.

The story was very low-angst and fluffy, but you know? Sometimes that's just what you need and Susi Hawke delivers just that.

I'm a huge Drew Bacca fan. He always does such a fantastic job narrating these books, giving them the extra-oomph that makes them stand out for me and Healing Choice was not the exception. His voice is just so nice and pleasant and he brings the necessary emotion in every single scene. Very recommendable!

Drew Bacca really made the whole story enjoyable!

I really enjoyed the narration by Drew Bacca, who is new to me. He did a great job with these characters. He really made the whole story very enjoyable.

Finding your heartsong, exploring a new world and building a family create a wonderful story. The story was rich in characters and building a new life in a new world. The Fae world was really awesome and the descriptions created some memorable images in my mind.

Caleb and Tobias are wonderful together as they explore and build a life. I am so glad that this book is a great start to a new series. So many possibilities!

A wolf shifter and a fae. Lovely story!

I loved this book with a fated pair of a wolf shifter and a fae.
Tobias and Caleb's story is fascinating and heartwarming. I was so intrigued by the description of the fae realm...
Susi Hawke is a new to me author as I am fairly new to the paranormal genre, but I really enjoyed it!
This was the first time I listened to Drew Bacca's narration, and I really enjoyed it.

You are my heartsong for eternity and more

Fluffy clouds and rainbow sparkles! 🦄🌈 What a sweet, little, heartwarming story! Loved it! ❤️ It’s not often that we get Faes in our stories so I was really smitten when I heard that this book is a mating between a Fae and a wolf omega. 😁 And I know Susi Hawke is the queen of fluff so I was expecting a lot of feel-good, awwwwww-worthy moments and I wasn’t disappointed at all. 😉

Caleb is an omega wolf who’s living on borrowed time. Terminally ill and already one step at the death’s door, he was determined to save and help as many people possible before he leaves this world. Tobias was more than surprised when he realized there suddenly was a portal to the human world in his bedroom. And when he entered to human world, he was given a choice to meet and mate his heartsong (soulmate) if he can make his destined mate fall in love with him in one month. One month isn’t a lot of time but Tobias is nothing if not determined and adamant. And how difficult it could be to convince your mate who’s dying to give you a chance and that you are worth living for.

Normally, I like some amount of angst in the stories because more often than not, angst-free stories just don’t work for me. But it’s not the case here. Although it’s angst-free, fluffy and really really cute, these two worked for me big time. 😍 I also loved the fact that I got generous amount of their mating life. 😉 Usually stories end when protagonists ride off into the sunset but it’s not the case here. I got a lot of lovely marital bliss and a very cute baby bump plus adopting of a very lovely Fae child. 🥰 I also liked The secondary characters in the story, interesting, realistic and really brings out the story. And Drew Bacca did a fantastic job narrating this story. 👏 It was a delight to listen. I’m really looking forward to more books in the series. 💜🦄

Just an okay story

I'm not sure exactly what I expected, but I do know it wasn't this odd story of Caleb Beardsley, the dying shifter who finds his fated mate/heart song in Tobias of the Coppersmith Clan, a member of the Fae...no, NOT a fairy, if you please! Caleb exchanges a life certain to end before he has a chance to bring the young he conceives with Tobias into the mortal world for immortality with his mate and child in the land of the Fae. Their meeting and commitment to each other are pretty swift, and over by the halfway point in the story. After that, nothing happens; the rest is anticlimactic. Caleb meets a real fairy and ends up with his own personal fairy attendant, worries about meeting his in-laws, and has various other mundane experiences, including childbirth, none of which add anything to the emotional impact of the story.

There was almost no conflict, to begin with...how could there be when the choice to stay and die was clearly outweighed by the choice to cross over and live? I was rather bored after the halfway point but kept listening in hopes something would happen. And I was disappointed when nothing did. And how does Heather, Caleb's witch friend and 'handler' when he goes on these cancer-sniffing excursions at the beginning of the story, NOT recognize that she's being magically manipulated by Tobias? That was a rather big oversight as far as I'm concerned. I didn't buy her ignorance, and she was clearly not shocked when she discovered he was Fae, though I guess being a witch herself with a shifter for a friend, she would be more inclined to accept who he was. The narration was okay, given the actor's ability to switch between an American and a British accent, as well as between male and female speakers.

Cute fae/shifter romance

I really enjoyed this very original romance between Fae Tobias and wolf shifter Caleb. There were moments that made me sad, and there were others that made me smile. These two, and the supporting characters, were terrific. I loved the fae realm, and the way it was described brought it to life for me. Along with a well written story, the performance of this narrator was great. I will definitely listen to the rest this fun series when it becomes available!

Good fairy and his wolf mate

This is a lovely new addition to the continuing storyline of the Legacy/Legacy Warriors saga characters focussing on the Fae.
I love how Tobias is given the opportunity to find his true mate/heartsong in the human realm by the Fae Prince and the Legacy Warriors. I thought the introduction to Caleb in his cancer-sniffing dog pretence was cute and heart rending.
As always, Susi Hawke does a wonderful job of crafting a sweet but fun tale of magic and shifters, and Drew Bacca does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life while transporting us into their world. Do you believe in magic? If you do or you're a fan of fairies and shifters then I highly recommend this audiobook for you.

Adorable Story, Drew Bacca is Wonderful

Absolutely Adorable

I can't remember the last time I smiled literally through an entire audiobook. This is one of the sweetest, most joyous tales I can think of. From the moment we meet Caleb he's doing for others, and Tobias is so full of love and gentle guidance, well they made my heart "sing" (sorry, I couldn't resist).

Susi Hawke wraps the whole thing in magical, mystical wonderfulness. Her creative and clever mind knows no end as she explains how things work in the land of the Fae.

I know I'm late to the party, but this is my first audiobook by narrator Drew Bacca. I see what all the fuss is about! What a marvelous and interesting voice he has. Each character is completely unique and his accents are spot-on. His performance is the icing on the sweet, sweet cupcake that is Healing Choice and I only wish the book was twice as long.

Sweet, fluffy and cute short story!

I love Susi's work and this is no exception! A different fated mates tale, across realms and against a deadly (human) disease; I loved the journey these two took. Caleb and Tobias are perfect together, their back and forth, the love and the total cuteness will just melt your heart! I think I'm a bit jaded from the recent books I've reads that I kept expecting something bad to happen or "the other shoe to drop" but thankfully there is none of that and this is just a perfect, happy, fated-mates tale with a wonderful HEA beautifully done by Susi! If you're after a short, sweet, happily ever after fantasy fated mates tale then look no further!

Thanks for reading!

A short sweet story

This was a story of falling in love across the divides.
Wolf shifter meets Fae, falls in love and the story of how they get there. I thought it was so sweet what Caleb was doing to help others and was rather stunned when the little twist to that was revealed. Also loved the explanation for the fairy's hanging upside down.
I loved Drew Bacca's voicing of the story of Tobias and Caleb and loved his interpretation of Tobias' mother.
I did feel as though it wasn't long enough though. I would have enjoyed listening a little bit longer, but I will look forward to the next chapter of this series. I love Susi Hawke so will definately be buying the next one.

A new series to love :)

This is going to be another his series for Ms. Hawke. The story is really enjoyable, with well rounded characters. The description of the world that Tobias comes from reminded me of a mixture of worlds found at the top of The Faraway Tree (by Enid Blyton; I so wanted to go there :) )
Caleb and Tobias were a fun couple - I loved seeing their journey develop from love into a family. There was so much that happened for a relatively short story.
Drew Bacca is fast becoming one of my favourite narrators - he has such a wide range of different voices, all quite distinct. He's able to do accents quite well, as well. For example, his Tobias had an Irish lilt, while a couple of his brothers had different English tones -enough to make the Brit in me happy.
This is definitely the way to enjoy this book.
Ms Hawke, you have to keep Drew Bacca for all your books!

I was provided a copy for my enjoyment. My review is unsolicited and unbiased.

Heart warming audio

I really like the way Susie Hawke has a common ancestry for her books. Caleb is a beautiful soul. Tobias is a great guy(fae). The first half while Caleb is sick is potentially quite sad but has a good thread of humour through it.
The second half in the Fae realm is much more joyous, with fairies and orphans, gregarious families and waterfalls.
Drew Bacca does a lovely job of telling this story and characterising the voices.
