He thought his life was boring...until he woke up in a video game. Now he's a Level 1 newb in a deadly world without a restart button.

Gerald Lawson just wanted to wrap up the last few hours of his night shift playing Realm Quest, his favorite video game RPG, before kicking off an epic weekend of gaming. But after a strange encounter with an ancient-looking guy who wouldn't be out of place at a cosplay convention, Gerald wakes up inhabiting his character from the game, and the town of Copperton is burning around him.

Learning to survive his new reality proves harder than he could have imagined, and before he can even grind to a decent level, he's caught in a conflict between a local gang of outlaws and the people of Copperton. Even worse, he soon realizes this version of the game is increasingly unlike the one he's used to, and he's not the only one out of place. With an outlaw gang threatening the town and whispers of a mysterious invading army on the horizon, Gerald may be forced to abandon his quest to get back home in favor of something even riskier: to become the hero the people of Realm Quest desperately need.

Goldenshield is the first book in the action-packed Realm Quest GameLit saga. If you like MMORPGs, reluctant heroes, complex villians, and a world with rich fantasy lore, you'll love J. R. Andrews' innovative new fantasy epic.

Buy Goldenshield today to experience leveling up in a deadly online world!

I enjoyed listening to this book. I was able to follow it with out fast forwarding it because of long drawn out words just to make the book thicker

I enjoyed it

Great story and performance. But it could use some minor editing to take out some repeated takes. I highly reccomend it, and greatly look forward to the next in the series.

Is it asking too much for you to flag an audiobook for four letter foul language before a consumer spends a credit or money on a title?

J. R. Andrews' sample audio stopped without uttering a single f-bomb but after purchasing the book, he decides that's what's needed to spice this book up is to string a long list of f-bombs such as f-off, f-ing, holy bloody pumping fvck, shlt, c0ck, and so on. I'm not a prude and I don't mind some vulgarity as long as it's kept to a minimum and doesn't include f-bombs.

Now that I've got that off my chest, the author has the MC as an immature 23 yr old rookie policeman whose life evolves around slob-living, work screw-off and then he and his best bud are ridiculously spirited away to another realm that just happens to be a real world that matches the online game that both were heavily invested in. While his friend has taken the time to learn about the online version by communicating with characters and NPCs, the MC never took the time to do that and was too stupid to care, leaving him an absolute dunce when it came to the game lore. Oddly, because of that, he continues to mindlessly blunder into problems that are extremely dangerous to him and his companions.

The rating bar states that there are 23 ratings, most of them be 5 stars; yet only 2 reviews. Also, there were a number of obvious audio hiccups.

I know this will be a surprise for those reading this review, I won't be continuing this series.

Starts ear-r@pingly bad then settled to just bad
