Publisher's Summary

Many of us ache for relationship with God, yet feel distant and disconnected from him. As if he's more of an idea we believe in our head than a person we relate to. But God has a name: Yahweh. This one simple idea has the potential to radically alter how you relate to God, not as a doctrine, but as a relational being who responds to you in an elastic, back-and-forth way.

Why do we feel this gap between us and God? Could it be that a lot of what we think about God is wrong? Not all wrong, but wrong enough to mess up how we relate to him? What if our "God" is really a projection of our own identity, ideas, and desires? And what if the real God is different, but far better than we could ever imagine?

This book is a simple, but profound guide to what God says about himself. In his signature conversational-but-smart style, John Mark Comer takes the listener line by line through Exodus 34 v6-8 - Yahweh's self-revelation on Mount Sinai - called by some scholars the one most quoted verse in the Bible, by the Bible. In it, we see who God says he is.

It turns out, who God is just might surprise you, and change everything.

fantastic

A breath of fresh air exploring who Yahweh actually is, not just who I thought He was. He is so much bigger. Mr Comer did a great job writing this book and reading it. I hate it when people loosely toss the term "life changing" around, but this book can be.

John Mark has a way of writing that makes you feel as if you were sitting across from him at a coffee shop, having a conversation. He breaks down passages of the Bible, making it relatable to modern times and easy to digest for the reader. I highly recommend.

Easy to follow

The author puts forth some thoughts that are not the standard, western-Christian church thoughts we normally have, which I find nice. He narrates his book quite well, making it easy to follow enjoy.

Highly recommend read!

Really great view of our great God, Yehweh! New concepts and ideas explored that come from knowledge of the Hebrew language and add tremendously to new ways of viewing the cosmic Great Controversy and the place on the stage and part that humanity plays in Yehweh's plan to eradicate sin and evil from His universe. Highly recommended read!
