Publisher's Summary

Bibi Fortunata was the hottest ticket in town; singer, actress, and celebrity. Two years ago she was arrested on suspicion of murdering her lover and his new mistress, who was also Bibi's best friend. Bibi was front-page news in a way her publicists had never dreamed. But the police were never able to prove anything and Bibi was set free, with the cloud of suspicion and murder still hanging over her. Bibi left for Barcelona where she quite simply disappeared. But when Bibi's daughter comes to Mac Reilly and Sunny Alvarez for help, they can't resist the temptation to solve this mystery once and for all. Who really killed Bibi's husband and her lover? Who would want to frame Bibi? And who is beckoning them from Barcelona? Filled with Adler's trademark lush descriptions, twisty plots, and decadent luxury, From Barcelona With Love is the perfect escapist novel.

Great Series

Finally on the fourth book, a narrator who correctly pronounces Tesoro's name. I have enjoyed the whole series and Elizabeth Adler is a new favorite author.

Boring story & a**hole hero

I guess it was good writing, as I only noticed 6 hours in that absolutely nothing has happened. However, after that, I couldn't wait to finish.
In addition, the hero was a perfect a**hole. (In fact, the writer failed to develop and sympathetic character) So the hero chose everything and anything over his girlfriend from the beginning. Then he flew off to Europe, again putting his career over his fiancée, where his great ex love welcomed him. Still, he wouldn't decline her, instead kissing her, reminiscing in their mutual past, longing, with an afterthought about his fiancée sometime at the end. He of course extends his stay, and even stays with his ex. When his fiancée arrives, he wouldn't hug her, kiss her, or hold her hand, even though he was caught in a situation easily misunderstood. Instead, he acts as host besides his ex, and let her patronise his fiancée. Eventually he tries to convince his fiancée that he didn't really cheat, but it was too little, too late, and at the end he rather answers his ringing phone and lets her get away.

Mispronunciation

I like the book and enjoy the reader’s performance for the most part.
But when I heard her pronounce the word “Roue”
as “ Rouie “ I just cracked up.
Carrington , you need to look up how to pronounce a word which is unfamiliar to you to avoid being seen as ignorant!

A little light in the detective work

I always enjoy Elizabeth Adler’s books for her descriptions of food, wine, fashion, etc. in places I’ve visited or would like to. Narrator was very good although I think she made Sonny (Sunny?) sound rather whiny. Other than the fact that there was little detective work required, I can’t object to much except one tiny thing. Every time I heard that ridiculous name “Cherry Pop,” I gagged. Still, I want to get on a plane and fly to Barcelona.

enjoyable

Having read many Elizabeth Adler books, I do not think this is her best one. However, it is a nice gentle read for those times when you are not in the mood for anything too complicated. I felt the character of Mac was probably a little bit too good and 'nice' for a successful private detective, they usually have a bit more of a dark-side. I thought the narrator was good and she did all the accents very well. I listened to this over 4 days and enjoyed it. Would like to point out that even though my name appears as Mr on my reviews, I am actually female and do not think men would find this book very appealing
