    "Absolutely 5 stars!"

Follow Kristin through her 17 year sentence. Meet several different women and their experiences. After stealing almost $500,000 and becoming a stumbling alcoholic, she ends up losing her husband and kids in exchange for almost 2 decades of life behind bars.
Throughout her 17 years in prison, she meets many women and we get introduced to their stories as well. Going through the years with these women was heart wrenching at times, sickening at others. This is a very good portrayal of people spending years in prison.
Having worked in a prison myself, I had a different take on this story than I think most people will. I thought the author did a very good job of showing us the inside of “being on the inside”. It is a lot different than people think, and Kim Cano obviously did her research. She also did a wonderful job at showing us the effects on the family members. Everyone reacts differently to someone they love being incarcerated, and Ms. Cano showed this extremely well in her story. Good Job! A 5 STAR read here!!

    "Loved this Listen."
If you could sum up On the Inside: A Novel in three words, what would they be?

    Real Life Inside!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jess was my favorite character as she worked really hard to change herself.

Have you listened to any of Teri Schnaubelt’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Teri Schnaubelt really completes this book. She is one of my favorite narrators. When she narrates you feel as if you are there in the characters shoes.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

After 17 years will you beable to reconnect?

    Any additional comments?

    "A peek inside a women's prison."

I thought this was a great warm up to the third season of Orange is the New Black. If you enjoy the show you will defiantly like this listen.
This book follows some of the women behind bars, and some of the women who work in the prison. Lakeisha who screens the prisons mail follows some of the conversations and introduces you to Kristin, who is serving a very hefty 17 year sentence for stealing money from her employer. You also meet the warden of the prison and the psychologist, as well as some memorable inmates. There are a lot of friendships, and even some enemies to keep you interested. I have never been in a prison, or known anyone who has- but it seemed very realistic to me.
Teri Schnaubelt did a fantastic job with the narration. She has so many accents and quirks to put into the characters and she kept everyone straight so there was never any confusion to who I was listening to. She has a very nice speaking voice and pace.

    "Second Chances"

What an interesting listen and look inside a prison for women. Though it is Kristen's story, I thouroughly enjoyed all of the back stories of the other inmates and personnel. Quite an insight into the workings of an institution, the women who made mistakes, and the bonds formed behind bars. There are so many great characters~some very likable, some not so much. Abigail's story was, for me, the most touching and everyone should be blessed with a relative or friend like Olivia. Teri Schnaubelt's narration was just perfect!
    Highly Recommended...

    Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this audiobook showing both sides of the fence in a womans prison.
An insight into how differntly the woman cope to life inside , how their families react and also how some of the wardens are more caring than others.
This might sound a bit gloomy , but it's not, the story contains a lot of warmth, and really draws you into the various character's lives and dilemas.

Really well narrated by Teri Schnaubelt.

    great Audiobook- 4½ stars

I recieved this audiobook in return for an unbiaesd review.

    "Interesting but not totally believable"

I received a free audio version of this book to write a review.

The book is well written making it an easy "read" . For a prison book it is "clean". While it is an enjoyable read it is not realistic to think that a violent problem maker inmate is going to become a mellow thoughtful loving inmate simply because she got a new cellmate.

If you are looking for a in-depth study of life in prison this is not your book. If you are looking for a nice relaxing light read that gives a abridged version of a variety of prison women you will probably enjoy this.

"THIS WAS WONDERFUL IN EVERY WAY!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES!!! I loved this book so much....the narration, the story...the characters...ALL OF IT!!!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of On the Inside: A Novel?

There were so many...this whole book was memorable...if I have to pick one..I will say when Kristen finds out why Debbie never wrote...it really broke my heart...i cried!!

    Which scene was your favorite?

The ending, when Kristen is reunited with her family....and how she had grown....She was never a bad person...just went down a wrong path!

If you could rename On the Inside: A Novel, what would you call it?

    I would not rename it!

    Any additional comments?

** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **

This was such a wonderful story, it has many very well developed characters and you grow to care about all of them....I know this was meant to be mostly Kristen's story...and I loved Kristen...but everyone in this book stole my heart...I cried, I cheered...I could not put this down!

Kristen is convicted of a white collar crime of embezzlement...and is sentenced to 17 years...while in prison she meets a bunch of colorful people, some wonderful, some not so wonderful and makes some good friendships...she has to witness her family grow and change from afar....experience some very painful things...and come to some extremely truthful realizations about herself..

WONDERFUL BOOK AND AWESOME NARRATION...I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

"Wonderful inside look at prison life"

The author did a wonderful job of giving someone an inside look at the other side of the prison that the average person would never know. It's amazing how ones life can change in the beat of a heart.

"possibly the most pleasant prison ever"

I received a copy of this ebook free to review from the audio book blast dot com. I genuinely liked this book and the characters, but I found it slightly unrealistic that everyone in this prison is just dealing with things appropriately and wanting to plant and prune shrubbery after ballet class in the yard. There are deaths, but they are glossed over a bit. Even the one that deeply affects the other characters.

The narrator does a fantastic job for 90% of the characters represented here. She has an engaging voice that keeps your attention without being overbearing. I am definitely interested in listening to more books that she is reading!
