Publisher's Summary

Sile is a stylish citizen of the new Dublin, a veteran flight attendant who's traveled the world. Jude is a 25-year-old archivist, stubbornly attached to the tiny town of Ireland, Ontario, in which she was born and raised. On her first plane trip, Jude's and Sile's worlds touch and snag at Heathrow Airport. In the course of the next year, their lives, and those of their friends and families, will be drawn into a new, shaky orbit.

    "More of this genre"

Audible needs more of these types of books. There are too few audiobooks of this kind here.

"Sorry i wasted my time and money."
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I did not like the story. I loved Emma Donoghue's The Wonder and was hoping for something to rival it. I was sorely disappointed!

What do you think your next listen will be?

    ???

What didn’t you like about Laura Hicks’s performance?

    Her accent.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Landing?

The whole book was a waste.

    "When You're Continents Apart"

A nice love story between two women not only from different continents, but disparate worlds. They meet on a plane, Sheila is a flight attendant; Jude a traveler sitting next to a dead man. Starting with e-mail and phone calls and moving on to sporadic visits and finally the moment of decision.
This is a story with more depth than the usual love story , a bit more complicated than is usual in the genre. As another positive the obligatory breakup that occurs prior to the climatic ending feels like more of a natural outgrowth of the narrative than a contrived plot device. Jael and Risla were colorful supporting characters. A well written text with mostly likable characters. The narrator does the Irish accent fairly well (at least as far as I know) the English accents not so much and she doesn't even try a Canuck intonation.

No emotions ! Could be a good love story with some passion behind it. The narrator is excellent though

    "Very good book"

This is a great modern day love story. I love the witty dialog. The narration was ok, not as good maybe as the story deserved but ok.

Audible, why oh why did you put your end credit right up against the end of the narration. Cheesy and it took away from the book.

    "big disappointment"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    nothing

    Any additional comments?

I was so thrilled to read something else by Emma Donoghue, having listened to "Room", which was a superb and narration. This was the only Audible book I have quit 2/3 the way through. It was predictable, read in too cutesy an irish accent at times, and nothing made you particularly like the characters or be interested in the denouement of their love story. This belongs on trashy romance novel shelves, not in a serious library. I hope this represents early efforts for Ms. Donoghue and that her future writing will be more in line with "Room".
