Publisher's Summary

Best-selling author Conn Iggulden has earned sweeping critical acclaim for his Genghis Khan series, which captures the essence of the legendary warrior as no previous novels have.

In this breathtaking volume, Genghis must act when trouble brews west of the Mongolian plains. Dividing his army and using his sons as generals, he sets out to accomplish two important goals - conquer those who resist, and determine which son should succeed him.

"Bones of the Hills - part 3 of a triology"

If you begin reading the first book of the series 'Birth of an Empire', you won't be able pass up 'Lords of the Bow' or 'Bones of the Hills'. Rich with history, this is one of the best stories that I have ever listened to. Conn Iggulden has done a superb job of taking some pieces of history and stitching them together into a great story.

    "Great part 3"

A well written continuation of this series. Brining it to life and keeping social and historical context in mind. Narrator is same as part 2 and does a good job, but still prefer the one from part 1.

"Great Conclusion - or is it?"

While not quite on par with the first book (that would be extremely hard to top), I thought this, the third book in the series, picked it up a notch from the second book. All in all, all three books together make for one great story and are not only action packed, but filled with fascinating information about the cultures of the Mongels, Chinese, and Middle East. I, for one, was intrigued with the war strategies that allowed a bunch of goat herders to conquer half the world.

    "Incredible 3rd book!"

These books are just so exciting and interesting. Non-stop action! As with the first 2 books, I just couldn't put this 1 down. Highly recommend!

"Good story, REALLY prefer narrator from book 1"

Good story, just couldn't get used to the effeminate voice of the narrator compared to book one where the narrator seemed to fit the concept of Mongolian leaders.
enjoyed following the story. enjoyed getting "meat" behind the life and battles for Genghis Khan. But after the author explains the details of pronunciation of "Khan" and then that is ignored????

    "Quite a warrior with smarts"
If you could sum up Genghis in three words, what would they be?

    Cunning
    Forgiving
    Unforgiving

What did you like best about this story?

    Family survival

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Genghis was a boy and he and his family learned to survive and yet stay hidden from their enemies.

If you could rename Genghis, what would you call it?

    I wouldn't.

    Any additional comments?

There was going to sleep while listening to this book. I hated to put it down.

    "Bad ending"

The narrator is the same as the second book, but he did a better job in this one. Still not great pronunciation though.

I planned on giving this book five stars all the way through...until the end. The end felt cheap and rushed. I was also disappointed that the author chose his death from the most unlikely and least substantiated of all the rumors surrounding Genghis's end. It was good but the ending was a serious let down.
