Publisher's Summary

AudioFile Magazine Earphones Award Winner.

Eleanor Oliphant has learned how to survive - but not how to live.

Eleanor Oliphant leads a simple life. She wears the same clothes to work every day, eats the same meal deal for lunch every day and buys the same two bottles of vodka to drink every weekend.

Eleanor Oliphant is happy. Nothing is missing from her carefully timetabled life. Except, sometimes, everything.

One simple act of kindness is about to shatter the walls Eleanor has built around herself. Now she must learn how to navigate the world that everyone else seems to take for granted - while searching for the courage to face the dark corners she's avoided all her life.

Change can be good. Change can be bad. But surely any change is better than...fine?

    "Brilliant! But...."

Beautifully written and narrated. A story of the complexities of loneliness, the modern day 'shame'.
The story is well written and you do feel for the main character, my only criticism is this: Eleanor is removed from her mother at age 11 and so in care, then university and then work she would have been exposed to 'normal' trends, speech etc and yet it almost as if she's been living in the wild until the age of 30. That seemed a touch unreal to me, living in a big city she would have known about texts, emails, cosmetics et etc
Other than that , I did love Eleanor and Raymond. ❤️

"'unique, just beautiful - loved this!"

So much fiction is formulaic - this is creative, infinitely sensitive, hugely funny & poignant-as-blazes. I wasn't sure what to expect but it's glorious, 100% recommend!

    "Brilliant book."

Sad and uplifting in equal measure. Had me laughing out loud at points as it highlighted the bizarre social norms we blindly follow through the eyes of someone who hadn't encountered them before. Highly recommend.

    "A wonderful portrait of autism"

Autism is an integral part of my life, I have cousins, nieces, brothers, my partner and my children who all have autism as well as it being my job. It is wonderful to hear such a beautifully drawn version of how a unique perspective puts a completely different spin on a story.

    "Loved it!"

Narrater's voice is perfect for this unnerving, slightly sinister tale. Best book I've come across in a while. Highly recommend

"Thank you for writing this book"

I got to the last half hour and didn't want to finish it as I'd have to say goodbye to the characters. I fell in love with all of them. Really a genius piece of writing. A perfect illustration of the inner critic and narcissistic personality disorder. I would assume the author has direct experience as it's so authentic. I laughed and cried sometimes within the space of one sentence. This deserves to win awards. I
