Leaving their sleepy Mississippi home behind, brother and sister Truely and Courtney Noonan head west. There they drift apart, only to reunite, as they lay down new roots in Southern California.
This is a wonderful book. T. Ryder Smith took a small bit of getting used to, but after a time I came to believe that he was the perfect choice for narrator. The South is well described, as is the sense of family and gentleness. Ms. Kincaid reminded me of why I love living here: Hospitality, family ties, honesty, gentlepeople found nowhere else. These folks have their personality issues and surprised me more than once. The ending was somewhat rushed, but if that's all to complain about, I want more!!
