Publisher's Summary

The instant New York Times best seller is "a fun, delightful, un-putdownable novel" about two identical twin sisters who couldn't look more alike...or live more differently (PopSugar).

Nantucket is only 11 miles away from Martha's Vineyard. But they may as well be worlds apart for estranged twin sisters Harper and Tabitha Frost.

After not speaking for more than a decade, Harper and Tabitha switch islands - and lives - to save what's left of their splintered family. But the twins quickly discover that the secrets, lies, and gossip they thought they'd outrun can travel between islands just as easily as they can. Will Harper and Tabitha be able to bury the hatchet and end their sibling rivalry once and for all?

Before the last beach picnic of the season, there will be enough old resentments, new loves, and cases of mistaken identity to make this the most talked-about summer that Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket have experienced in ages.

Unrealistic, unbelievable and worst ending ever

I'm afraid Elian Hilderbrand has lost her touch. Characters behaved inconsistently and the plot was thin and unrealistic. The woman who all if a sudden refuses to touch or sleep in the same room as her husband for over a year suddenly is furious he has an affair?? A brother who gives up the love of his life because his sister doesn't like it. Worst of all we are robbed of the main characters resolution at the end as the author gives the last chapter to the dog's point of view. So disappointed

I love this author

I loved the book and this author but I have to agree with some of the other comments. When listening to a book ,the "he said, she said" dialogue is monotonous. I've noticed it on every book I've listened to. I would think the author's editor would have fixed this problem by now. There are a lot of words in the English language to replace "said"! Still I never miss any of her books and they never disappoint. I love her description of food and , of course, Nantucket. It makes me want to live there!

No longer a fan... and Huskies definitely do shed!

I think I have read or listened to every Elin Hilderbrand novel in existence, and use to be a big fan, but this one is SO awful that I only made it half way through, and just couldn't finish. The story is whiny and very immature , as if it were written by a new writer, and the characters are completely unlikable. At times, the book reminded me of a very long commercial, name dropping brands as often as possible. The little voice in my head kept screaming "who cares??"
And last but not least, the dog... a Siberian Husky who doesn't shed. I assure you there is no such thing. For someone who seems to know so much about the Nantucket/ Martha's Vineyard part of the country, and way too much about all the pricey items she calls out by name, the author should definitely have done better research on the dog breed she chose for this story. Overall, and epic E.H. FAIL in my opinion. What happened to the author of Beautiful Day??

what I expected from her books ... good

great summer read. love how she hinted at some of the other characters from past books. fun if you read a lot of her. a bit predictable, but also believable. goes very fast. enjoyable and I like this narrator.

Great Beach read.

This was a fun read, lots of back and forth between the characters. I do wish Ms. Hildebrand hadn't made the grandmother seem so feeble. She's only 71 and that's not old these days!

Another good one from Elin

Erin Bennett is a talented narrator. I have come to associate her voice with all Hildebrand's books. I love the contrast and comparison between Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. This is love story about loss and forgiveness.

Modify

It would be more enjoyable listening if "he says, she says" were dropped. It gets a bit redundant and distracting.

So frustrated

This book is about a **Massachusetts** family. They live on the Islands. Please, please, readers, get the basics right! Aunt has a “u” in it. It’s ahnt, not ant. Like Charles Emerson Winchester says, Scallops is NOT scaaal-ops. It’s scawl-ups. Really. Basics. It makes the reader sound totally foolish, talking like they are from the Midwest or something.

Please note: MCAS is “em-kass”. It’s the standardized MA test. Never, EVER pronounced as letters m-c-a-s
Frappe has a short a, one syllable, same as frap. It’s a ice cream shake.

Loved Identicals!

This was an awesome book! I love Elin Hildebrand's books and wasn't sure how I would feel about listening to a book. It was great and I will definitely do it again. Harper and Tabitha - twins living in two different worlds but only 12 miles away from each other.
I loved the way the story unfolded. I don't want to give anything away, but definitely a 5 star!
