One person is trying his best to forget his past while the other is working her hardest to uncover it in this suspenseful novel from Janette Turner Hospital. As children, Lowell and Samantha lost their respective parents in an airplane hijacking. Now adults, Samantha becomes obsessed with the tragedy of her youth and drags Lowell into a mess of terror and betrayal, into a world which he has worked so hard to bury. Performed with a chilling potency by veteran narrator Sean Mangan, Due Preparations for the Plague is a riveting experience full of manipulation, deceit, and emotion.
"Hospital is a writer of many gifts; her dark imagination, astute insights into societal interactions, and the supple beauty of her prose, provide an irresistible combination." (Publishers Weekly)
What about Sean Mangan’s performance did you like?
The best narrator on the planet. I just wish he could be reading other books instead of a steady diet of Matthew Riley's. I've just loved his reading The Risk Pool by Peter Russo. And now I wish he could be used to read more of Janet Turner-Hospital....here's hoping.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! I nearly did while on the plane from Lisbon to Sydney. It kept me going the whole way. Just a great experience.
Any additional comments?
There are simply not enough books read by this wonderful narrator.
